The town of Nie - Review

Genre: VN.
Developer/publisher: Zombilica, Hunex/Dramatic Create.
Platform: PC,switch.
Official Site: N/A.
Release date: 19-9-2024

Not sure what to play next I decided to give The Town of Nie a try! I don't really play much
BL games and this is actually my first. I read a few manga's but that was it.
Since it has an english release that is what I am playing as I do want to support those releases.
I played the switch version which I knew was already toned down as most PC to console port
tend to be, not sure what was supposed to be different but only a handful of scenes were IMO bad.

 Pro's
- Interesting setting and characters.
- Pretty decent art, Hisora has a sprite as well as VA.

Grey area
- Music fit the setting and mood but some tracks are quite mid.
- The OP did not automatically play when booting up the game, only when lingering on title screen.

Con's
- Some translation errors; most could've been fixed if it had a QA sweep.
- Sound effects were annoying; first time in long while I had to put it on lowest setting.
- Copypasta; some scenes are the same in every route that you can't readskip.

This was a supernatural VN, it has suspense and some gore to go along with it
but moments that it got gorey were relatively minor.
I wasn't really sure what kind of story it was trying to tell but there were moments
when I was like is this really a BL game? the narrative was interesting
so I was easily hooked, I liked how everything was slowly introduced
and I got a better picture of what was going on. It also didn't feel like it tried
too hard to get that japanese supernatural ghost stories effect.
Hisora as a protagonist was pretty okay, he wasn't a total asshole unlike some other
protagonist from another supernatural VN I recently sat through.
Though I did feel that he kind of felt idk bland? in general he seemed like some normal dude
but there was not much that stood out to him other than being a workaholic.
By the time of Naruomi's route I thought that Hisora was cute but a big idiot.
Hisora is also voiced and has his own sprite while the LI and important characters are
also voiced, minor characters on the other hand without sprites aren't and they only have grunts.
You can really see where the dev's cut their losses.

The art was pretty good in terms of sprite and CG's but the backgrounds
really varied like there were some good pieces but some weren't as great as others.
Some bgm's really added to the setting but much like backgrounds it varied.
There were some bgm tracks that were honestly really average to just plain out of place.
Like yea imma bang my head to that one rock bgm.............. ๐Ÿ’€ The bgm for tense situations
also ended up being a pain on my ears I lowered the bgm volume to 1 so I think that says enough.
The Town of Nie is one of the few VN that has me really mixed on its OST.
Also the sound effect for bringing up the backlog or menu was annoying
and quickly grew on my nerves so that too had to be put on the lowest setting.
There was one more sound effect which was supposed to be kids laughing but it was like
1-2 seconds on repeat. These minor slights really brought the experience down.

Translation wise... there be errors, some of them can easily be corrected
but it seems this could have done with another Q&A sweep.
For the most part it read pretty well so I can let it slide.

System wise its standard VN stuff, the common route had map movement
and this is also what decides which route you land on.

The common route could seem long atleast I thought it did when I checked a guide
but it wasn't at all, the game was paced quite well and it didn't drag on at all.
Said common route served its purpose of slowly setting up the route itself and I liked
how it really felt like Hisora stayed at some inn that wasn't exactly normal
while still trying to find out whatever this place was.
The early hours can seem like this is a non-romance VN, Hisora is pretty much a normal guy
who doesn't really think about romance so it can seem like its not a BL game.
The most gay thing Hisora said early on was call Koko sexy.๐Ÿ˜‚
It was of course a BL game and there were plenty of cute scenes with the guys.
Due to spending time with a LI he does develop feelings, in some routes it done better than others.
I liked the romance more in routes that weren't Mio

I have never played a BL game before so I have nothing to compare it to but this was pretty OK.
I generally had a good time despite there being some gore/horror elements. Maybe it was due
to the stellar cast and decent amount of suspense. Though the horror felt more like it was there
on the side, there weren't many jumpscares or anything only one that caught me
offguard in Naruomi's route. There's only one creepy looking CG in the beginning
but I was disappointed there wasn't more of that. Some descriptions were horrific
but it also was done in a comical way? atleast there was no pictures of eyeballs
or innards falling out but I do think this game would have been scarier if there
had been more cg's or sprites to give more details cuz text is just text.
If I actually had to see some of that shit it I'd probably lose it like Hisora did...๐Ÿ’€
Maybe some stuff was reserved for bad ends but I stayed away from those.
Also there was atleast WTF is this shit moment in most route
but the rest was relatively normal tbh. It also ended up feeling
more like a comedy like how was Asuku's route not a comedy?!๐Ÿ˜‚
still The Town of Nie didn't shy away from being dark. Most of it is reserved for
bad ends but that tone is still present and some routes like Koko hit hard.
 7/10
In the end I stayed for the characters and wanted to do their routes simply
to understand them better. I didn't really like Mio's route due some scenes here and there
but by the time of his good end most was forgiven, he's not a bad character but I do think
some things could have been handled better.  It won't take four routes to figure out who
mister mourning clothes was but its a shame you can't read skip the scene at the end of the route.
I suppose this game was designed that no matter who you go for some things need to be
explained no matter what before it can end. It can be a bit repetitive as well making the only
reasons to do more routes more or less for the LI themselves and whatever secrets they carried.
The game has a FD but I am not sure if I will get to it anytime soon... i'm also not sure
if its worth it because if it doesn't have cute after stories or fun SoL scenes
and more weird stuff it definitely isn't for me.

TL;DR What I really liked from this game was the suspense, mystery and fun SoL scenes
everything else varied greatly, some cute romantic scenes were there but it was not enough.
Honestly when I think about BL that I like Sasaki and Miyano come to mind.
The Town of Nie wasn't exactly suited for my tastes but atleast I did like some of it
and its not that bad of a VN, I did like the story and it stayed true to what it tried to do.
Its just that this sort of setting is nothing new and I thought I'd seen it somewhere before.
Ultimately while the characters and setting were great the game is dragged down
by annoying sound effects and copypasta. After the first play it essentially becomes
a character game but by route 4 I was getting tired of the repetitiveness.
The game was obviously censored but it was done in such a way you could still
understand what originally had transpired and that doesn't sit well with me
because why even bother to change it in the first place?! meh.

I used a guide for the game and it is recommended that if you care about the story
to play in the order of: Mio > Asuku > Koko > Naruomi > True.
Personally I think Mio/Asuku/Koko can be done in any order as anything sorta goes
but Naruomi definitely last due to how easily he ties into the truth end.

This game also has bad ends with content that may be a bit much for some and since I am here
only for the story and shipping I decided it would be better to use that guide
and avoid  andmines that could hinder enjoyment.

Route babbles after the jump and there might be some spoilers below as well as my fav CG's
so if you still want to play this then stop reading here, kthnx bye.

Tsumikui ~Sen no Noroi, Sen no Inori~ for V - Review

็ฝชๅ–ฐใ„ ~ๅƒใฎๅ‘ชใ„、ๅƒใฎ็ฅˆใ‚Š~
Game: [Tsumikui ~Thousand curses, thousand prayers~.]
Genre: Otome Game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher:Operetta, Dramatic Create.
Platform: PC, PS Vita.
Release date: 2017-06-29

Since I already played the demo I skipped to the point where demo ended, no point
in sitting through the prologue again which only was relevant
for the sake of explaining how/why to begin with.
I think the way I wrote my review really reflects how this game tried to tell its story... lmao.
My general opinion of tsumikui is mostly the same as others... meaning its a mediocre
long winded game that has the potential to be so much better but it has too many short comings.
Look I played/read many vn's this year but this probably takes the cake for being long winded
to the point I often took breaks 4~ hours a day may have been all I could take! add that some routes
took 5/6 days and sub routes 2 at most, been stuck on this for two weeks or so, 4 hours
is a fair amount of time but sometimes when I wanted to progress further i lost the energy.
This in general was so difficult to write a review of... I feel like I spend more time
writing my dislikes than being positive, there may not have been much I liked cept Shiou or Ren.
Maybe its cuz its Operetta or maybe its me... but its probably me lol buut could be the developers.
Despite the demo hitting my interest I shot myself in the foot by purchasing the full thing
because I knew about the monologues and TL;DR , I knew...

Story is about some stuff happening 1000 years ago and a curse been running till now.
The same people from back then get reincarnated, they have to deal with remembering the past
which wasn't pretty, Kaoru was lucky to have lived a fairly normal life for 15/16 years though.
Thanks Tsukasa...
Kaoru has to kill 1000 criminals to undo the curse or else she'll die, at first some parts may not be
easy to understand but the further you get the more you'll know but honestly it tends to drag itself
out with wordy narration that goes on and on.. then suddenly I find myself looking away
after I pressed auto mode since its way longer than it should've been, poor execution? maybe.
Its the writers job to keep it interesting not bore people with unnecessary junk text. That aside
there's a lot of  talk about past self, morality and also angst, how can Kaoru find love while
having to deal with all this? don't forget the teenage hormones that run amock!
Well atleast the first route I did aka Shiou's handled this surprisingly well
but honestly Touji's was better in certain aspects even tho he's an oyaji. >_>;
Complaints aside the story is good but yeah... I just didn't enjoy sitting through TL;DR monologues.

Pro's
- Interesting story that makes you want to finish it all the way even tho its meh at times.
- Art, obviously looks great- CG's move and multiple sprites.
- Voiced heroine, if you don't like it you can turn it off.

Con's
- Long and draggy.
- Music, fitting bgm in most scenes but others are average, also tracks wouldn't loop
and certain sub character voice(such as man A) are loud...
- TL;DR, they love being detailed and narration should've been toned down as it too wordy.
- The slice of life scenes made this to much like a shoujo manga...
- The battle scenes are boring due to text dumps ruining suspense of it all.

If you hadn't guessed this is a story centered otome game if you're looking for short, fun or to the
point otomege look elsewhere, I only ended up getting this because certain aspects intrigued me
look its not bad it just gets a tad draggy and I don't got problem with monologues but I do when it is
used to further delay the story at hand that's just poor execution if you the reader
get bored and just space out from it all and/or close the game as a result.
The heroine is a bit too accepting of certain matters but yeah what would you do if you are
told you'd die if you don't consume a 1000 criminals other than that she's mostly great?
Kaoru will speak her mind and wouldn't mind rushing the opposite way to save a friend.
Sadly she's inconsistent re:romance she says she's not interested then later she's uh I may like him also she's not exactly ''strong'' just willing but she can't do much either. So just a typical girl!
I guess feelings can change but in some routes it was irritating imo.
Scenes are still long and ruin otherwise excellent action scenes with monologues
basically they love to *record scratch* *freeze frame* while shit is happening
delaying the actual action and ruining the scene with pointless narration/monologue. x_x
I guess you can go figure why I dropped quinrose after two games.
Uh so let's mention that while I liked that Kaoru had a female classmate to talk too
but some part just weren't interesting, in most SOL scenes I was like move on please?
They have this grand plotline but deal with it so casually half the time I am just like lol ok.
Take that as you will but I am done mentioning this, I think early on Tsumikui
has a typical shoujo manga feel where not much happens except they made it into an otome
in which you can go after another guy that isn't the main interest which is obviously Ren.

System's easy enough and not worth mentioning except you can rewind read text making
backlog jump useless, there's skip to the next unread too so yay this is surprisingly comfy!
Sadly they don't turn affection meter off for locked routes... just don't try to go for Souta
Kagerou or Ren when you can't or you'll be disappointed if you hit a roadblock.

In short... *non spoiler*
Me trying to write out my thoughts on this game.
From the demo I figured this would be a mixed bag of all things and it sorta was but not
particularly bad also I wouldn't say it was a kusoge even though at times it gets awfully close.
Tsumikui is a somewhat enjoyable otome with a decent story at the core, its fun to find out its story
which is carefully told to you in an enforced play order which was recommended by the creators.
The themes it covers made me a little uncomfortable at times, angst, hate, morality and more
like I said there's little time for fluff but that doesn't mean there is no sweet romance scenes
its just poorly paced. Honestly speaking it doesn't really stand out that much in what it tried to do
but that doesn't matter it still managed to be decent just a lot of things just could be done better
Tsumikui is an example of being too story-driven and not being able to make it all interesting
or better put make the most of its themes.
Fun character interaction? BARELY, boring internal monologues? YEP.
I partly liked how sometimes they make you think this character isn't important and then a route
later he gets his spotlight... outside of that chara such as Tsukasa despite them being great
are just there, like he's interesting but they just never use his character properly.
๐Ÿ˜ข
I am also surprised this wasn't an R18 in the PC ver because then things could get randy...
also a little scary but its fine the way it is I don't need them to put disgusting shit in badends.
Also while the CG's were beautiful they're spread out poorly in some part I wish there was one
yet nothing then suddenly near the end of the route a nice spread of them in a row. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Not everyone gets the same amount either, my bae Shiou got the most.
Either way with each route I played I wanted to press on as each one I did hinted something
that's covered in the next thus somehow making it enjoyable to unravel each characters mysteries
there was almost no route that was wasteful each character played did play a part but whether or not
it was worth it in the end... saa some routes just weren't well rounded enough. coughmorihitocough

If you want a meaty otomege I'd sooner recommend Ken ga Kimi than this game atleast
its more carefully crafted and the common route actually had a point.
Here? only a few route felt truly well rounded such as Shiou not to mention, Morihito gets screwed
over in more ways than one and honestly had the worst route of all. I never liked him because
he was annoying and only truly stops his Sera obsession in his own in predicable manner no less. -_-
Well that ends my non-spoiler section, I honestly can't give it any higher than a 6/10
and I agree with a lot of other reviews on certain facts and  that Tsumikui isn't that great.
Definitely do not recommend unless you love Operetta's works or something and can stand
huge chunks of text monologues... going on forever and ever detailing stuff
purely to make it drag out which makes an otherwise short vn much longer than need be.

So now you ask is the vita port worth it if I played the PC ver?
Well did you really like the original and the characters, especially Kagerou.
Personally I do not think its worth 6000 yen for the exact same thing with just a bunch of
after stories  that aren't that long to begin with and a semi-new route unless
you really like any sort of new content for a particular vn you liked.
If you haven't played PC ver and have a vita then yes go for it if you like longer otome games
I can't gaurantee you will like it but who knows! your opinion could differ
but if you never cared for Kagerou or didn't like it that much give it a definite pass.

Playorder:
(This order was recommended by the writer and makes sense, Ren is locked till last so no choice).
Shiou > Touji > Kagerou > Morihito > Souta > Ren.
Kagerou finishes off the Kuga arc and Ren the concludes the whole past arc.
This probably the one and only order you can even take there's really
not much room to order it the way you want.

Character rambles after the jump...
There be spoilers, minor or major below so tread carefully but there won't be any summaries
as this game is too wordy I doubt anyone will ever do it... its just too much really.

Tsumikui ~Sen no Noroi, Sen no Inori~ for V - Demo Review

Game: [Tsumikui]
Genre: Otome Game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher:Operetta, Dramatic Create.
Platform: PC, PS Vita.
Release date: 2017-06-29

Well time for another demo because its still a while before the games I am interested
actually come out and me is bored... so let's try this and well it wasn't so bad at all.

The theme of Tsumikui is sin and reincarnation... and naturally
I was more interested in the past than the present.
Kaoru is a cute heroine but her past self way back in the heian-like period did something
terrible and its come to haunt her in 20XX aka present time.
Kaoru is quite like a typical shoujo manga heroine... the daily life parts are nice
but honestly they are surprisingly draggy and TL;DR as the game did not pick up untill
like an hour of highschool chitchat that barely had any importance to the plot except some moment
halfway through when bad people get brought up and Kaoru almost has a heart attack.
Atleast Souta was cute and I get they did it to show that Kaoru's life
is not going to be the same but it could've been shorter?
It seems that this game mixed some things I like and things I do not like
and executes it in such a way that early on I was basically meh half of the time
but I admit when things picked up it did get better, even if Ren was a little
abrupt in that one scene, he did eventually explain what was going on
and eventually Kaoru is like please help me get out of this mess and well
Ren is more than happy to help her cannabalize the souls of 1000 criminals
to undo a curse thats been running for generations, if she doesn't do this she'll die.
Of course its not going to go smoothly but that is expected, Kaoru's normal life is shattered
after finding out she's the reincarnation of Sera-hime and she's now being led
on a cursed path she may or may not find happiness on.
Even then Kaoru needs a little time... because killing people even if they did bad things
doesn't feel right to an average highschool girl like herself but Kaoru is no doormat
she just needed some time to take it all in and is willing to fight for her life.

Either way the demo is of fairly decent length, you'll get to see all of the main guys
but early on you're only spending time with Ren plus they have the nerf to cockblock
Ren's route behind SIX other guys! sweet mother of Operetta why you do this?!

Pro's
- Interesting story.
- Voiced heroine, her voice is ok, if you don't like it you can turn it off.
- Art, there's moving CG's too.
- Music, fits most of the scenes.

Con's.
- Pacing, TL;DR.
- Two main characters are completely ignored and treated like side characters.

Orfleurs ~Koufuku no Hanataba~ - Demo Review

Game: [Orfleurs ~Koufuku no Hanataba~]
Genre: Otome game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher: A's Ring/Dramatic Create.
Platform: PS Vita.
Release date: 2017-1-26

Okay let's go over one more otomege demo/trial before the end of the year
and once again god bless dramatic create for releasing demo's of their ports!
Honestly I'm just biding my time till ''christmas'' order comes in. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I knew before hand that the PC version of Orfleurs originally was all about dat porn
so here I am wondering why this even got an all ages port for PS Vita...
The story doesn't seem bad to me and even has potential, I like the fantasy setting and stuff.

It all starts out pretty relaxing ah dat remote village life but then some bandits attack the village and
the noble Reed family shows up just in time to save the heroine Claire, apparently she's one of the only survivors.
The Reed brothers are all knights except for the youngest, Noah who doesn't show up untill the end of the demo.
They end up taking her with them and eventually becomes a maid for the Reed family
because she doesn't have anywhere to go and wants to repay them somehow.

Since this is a demo there really isn't much to write about and honestly I learned more
about the guys from the official site and/or VNDB descriptions than the entirety of the demo
which was short and didn't get anywhere remotely interesting which unlike
the Torikago no marriage demo was a disappointment.
I didn't really get a good look at this game and no I am not lying nothing interesting happened
other than Claire learning the ropes of being a maid and seeing a slightly different side of her saviours.
What's in a demo? not much atleast for this one!

Cain Cohen.
 CV: Amekanmuri Rui
The heroine's obligatory childhood friend, luckily he was out of town when the bandits attacked.
I gotta be honest though I never heard of his seiyuu before., also I dunno if this guy has a route but I hope he does...

Adel Reed.
CV: Satou Takuya.
The second-oldest brother of the Reed family, he's kind but other than that
he didn't leave much of an impression on me.

Phil Carter.
 CV: Nakazawa Masatomo.
His family is close to the Reed's and also Adel's friend.
Taking Claire back with them was actually his idea lmao

 Louis Reed.
CV: Majima Junji.
The serious and intelligent eldest brother and was first in line to succeed
the Reed family but apparently he end up passing that to Adel.

Zack Reed.
CV: Abe Atsushi.
The third-oldest brother of the Reed family, he's friendly, cheerful and a bit lazy.

Noah Reed.
 CV: Suzuki Yuuto.
This CG is so pretty but thats not enough reason for me to buy the game...
The youngest brother of the Reed family, he keeps to himself and barely shows any emotion
there wasn't much to be seen in the demo as it ends b4 it got good.

As you can see the demo was too short for me to judge this or any of the characters.
Tthere weren't even that many cg's or memorable events so as you can see
I used some of the samples from the official site, I bet you can even tell which ones.

Final thoughts
This may be the only port of an R18 otome that I seriously question why the hell it got one.
I know that Orfleurs was no innocent game ๐Ÿ˜‚ and the plot was already quite average...
Now they go and remove the porn for the port and you know what's left? not much at all
and despite me liking the setting and all I found it to be quite boring in general.
I doubt dramatic create can work miracles and somehow give me a decent otomege...
That being said I am in no rush to get this and I doubt I will get it down the line
because honestly there are much better games to choose from instead.
If you are thinking of getting this please do go with the PC version
since you will atleast get a version as it was originally intended.
5/10
I'm thankful for the demo but sometimes I think they do more harm than good.
I guess Dramatic Create got money to burn by porting this nukige? well...

Koezaru wa Akai Hana ~Koi wa Tsuki ni Michibikareru~ - Demo review

่ถŠใˆใ–ใ‚‹ใฏ็ด…ใ„่Šฑ
Game: [Koezaru wa Akai Hana ~Koi wa Tsuki ni Michibikareru~ ].
Genre: Otome game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher:  Operetta Due and Dramatic create.
Platform: PC, PSP, PS Vita.
Release date of demo: 2016-04-28
Release date of full version 2016-06-23

Decided to try another demo, seriously otome games need more of these and dramatic create knows!
This was originally a R18 PC game but was ported to psp and psvita, honestly i'd love to play an r18
game but can never actually bring myself to actually play them because I am not fond of the porn.
Also they have to make the bad ends extra disgusting 9000% of the time so that is yet another turnoff.
Ok I admit that I'd love to listen to my fav seiyuu's nnngh if they're in one but eh I'm not up for it.

Can R18 games can do well without the scenes? sure, they can be replaced with other ways
to develop the character but feels like something is missing since it not as it supposed to be.

Oh and the heroine Naala is voiced! so that is a good thing, she's also pretty cool imo.
A bad thing is they don't bother to voice the various side characters! so Naala is
speaking to a guy on a market who has no voice, sigh that's just a bit disappointing.
you bothered to voice the heroine but you can't be bothered to hire some random guys to voice
townspeople or minor characters? Okay I guess they ran out of budget but it is awkward.

The seiyuu cast is unique but there are a few known names like:
Shinnosuke Tachibana, Sugiyama Noriaki, Suzuku Chihiro and Kakihara Tetsuya.
 ~
So ever since Naala's mother was kidnapped when she was a child, Naala has been living with some
noble ever since that incident, Years later when Naala has grown up,  the same people
who kidnapped her mother are back to kidnap more women.
So will Naala still be able find happiness amidst the men who have taken her?
Only time will tell...

As for my impressions of the guys, just from the demo I am mostly interested in Touya.

Slen comes of as an haughty asshole at first but doesn't seem to be that bad
and then there is Nooru... well he was just creeping me out in many ways. เฒ _เฒ
Maybe he's a sweetheart but the first impression isn't favorable.

I am not far enough to judge them as a whole since its a demo... but they do not seem that bad.

Ruji is nice, well he's a doctor so it can't be a coincidence.

The whole setting and story sound very interesting and the heroine being voiced is a plus.
Honestly I have only heard good things about Koezaru so far and that it was also
one of the better r18 otome games next to chou no doku hana no kusari.
Art is decent, its not really my preferred style but its not bad or anything and the music has its charms.

In my opinion this is worth a buy even without the porn so if you still haven't played it by now
this is a good chance to give this game another shot! atleast try out the demo since its decent
in length as its 2+ hours and it sure should tell you if this otome game is for you or not.
From a personal stand point i'd say go with PC ver because you'd get the product
in the form it was intended to be, unless you dislike r18 then just get the vita port.
Other than my complaint about minor character not being voiced this game sure is promising.
Honestly I don't think I will get it any time soon since I doubt I will have the time for it along
with the games that I already decided to get but maybe someday when I am tired of otomate's games
and want something with a bit more quality rather than quantity, sure I might get this!
No promises though...

Akai Suna Ochiru Tsuki - Demo Review

่ตคใ„็ ‚ๅ •ใกใ‚‹ๆœˆ

่ตคใ„็ ‚ๅ •ใกใ‚‹ๆœˆ
Game: [Akai Suna Ochiru Tsuki].
Genre: Otome game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher: Landkarte and Dramatic create.
Platform: PC, PS Vita.
Release date of demo: 2016-01-29
Release date of full version 2016-03-10

A demo for an otome game! I wish more companies did this!
Instead of like making us waste money... but then again from a demo it might still
be hard to judge the full game because who knows if it gets bad or better later, haha.

TL;DR
Check this demo out if you are unsure about this game, you might like it.
