Himehibi Another Princess Days ~White or Black~ - Review

Genre: Otome/VN.
Developer/publisher: Takuyo.
Platform: Switch.
Official Site: http://www.takuyo.co.jp/products/himehibi_wb/index.html
Release date: 10/12/20.

Good old Takuyo is still around and released a new entry in the hime hibi series!
of which I have only played the first entry, I did buy the second one but never
played actualy managed to make time for it.๐Ÿ˜… I did pass on their other new game
Hanasaku and maybe i'm glad I did as reviews weren't exactly doing it any favors.
Who is Takuyo? that's a long story but they've been around for a long time.
Enough about that and more about Himehibi 3! which in terms of being of an otome game
was a little more simple than the other Takuyo game I recently played!

Pro's
- Mostly light-hearted but there seemed to be more to it all but not too deep.
- Pretty art, love the soft colours! most of the backgrounds are nice to look at as well.

Grey area
- Music manages to fit the mood most of the time but its nothing special.

Con's
- Kinda on the short side, but on the flip side it knows where to end.
- Not all route are well-rounded better not come her for a deep plot.
 - They should have used a different ending theme for the black lily route, too upbeat.๐Ÿ˜“

The OP is decent I guess, catchy enough.

Kisakino Emi is invited to enrolls at sumeragi gakuen, a high-class all boy school that is
undergoing an experiment of letting girls enter, all the boys are princes and the girls princesses...
Its is all a project/test held by the sumeragi group and she has been chosen to be a model student
like some of the guys have. There's a ranking system like Masamune for example is the rook
and Kazumi is a self-proclaimed unicorn(knight) wait why unicorn?! well there surely
was a good sense of humor around as well basically every romanceable guy is named
after a chesspiece and Emi's the queen she joins their commitee and with them prepares
for the festival, each route does this differently and you get closer to him.
Emi also has to deal with being a model student... Other than that a relative of Chiharu
typically tries to make things difficult for everyone involved, gotta have some bad guy I guess.
Depending on your choices you can get different type of route such as: white lily or black lily
there's four endings total, the former is happier than the other but what I liked about this
they explored different sides to the character and different kinds of love which kept things
interesting, for some this is for better others for worse basicallly black route is spicier.
Other than that the general system of the game was smooth and I had no real issues
on my journey to full-complete!

This game is set in a rich kids school thats fancy high-class but more up to date with current times
kind of reminded me of zettai kaikyuu but without the harsh class system.
Hmm... maybe the setting was too fancy for me atleast there were no annoying minigames
and was still pretty relaxing it also didn't feel like it took forever to get interesting
otome-wise like shinigami to shoujo this game was much shorter and to the point.
The common route served its purpose well enough to introduce and explain things.
There are many cg which is only the guy(s) some were good others meh.
The protagonist even comments how just staring at pretty boys is happiness enough
well atleast there are cg's with the two of them together so I can't complain much.๐Ÿ˜Œ
Himehibi1 also had this problem... but I guess its just a thing this series has
but this 3rd installment does it a little better than the first.
Also its ceroB(12+) so its probably better to not expect it to be that raunchy
because what was there was very tame which might be a blessing cuz there
are maybe two endings were the game was pushing this rating.

Emi is a good girl she might be more likable than the protag of himehibi1 but I did think Emi
is a bit too forgiving. Most of the guys are likable and the only one who pissed me off
was Yumeji and paperbag-kun turned out to be worse than I expected.๐Ÿ˜“
There was definitely enough going on with the character(s) to keep me interested also the game
seems to know its cliches but actually not giving 2fucks about it and still rolls with it
characters like Kazumi would actually be boring were it not for their quirk
and I found his character to be very interesting!  though the humor was odd
and a bit corney I feel you're either gonna love or hate it. Atleast every route was unique
and focused on that character which was a plus, some endings might feel lacking
but if you do all you will truly know everything about the guy (for better or worse).

This game was overall pretty simple in what it tried to do, I think I can recommend
this game if you want something light-hearted and character focused while not minding
having to look past the surface of a pretty face, cuz there are some ~problems~ some more obvious
than others. Romance wise... it depends for some it only gets good at the end
others are more well-rounded overall it was still open ended, I think this new himehibi
does kind of retain the old spirit its also not too bloated in length it ends when it should.
I think this game was alright... Kazumi's route while corny was fun๐Ÿ˜… it might not
be my cup of tea but it wasn't bad! Masamune's route was very enjoyable
and he's definitely my husbando, the only route I didn't really like was Yumeji
but that was mostly because the guy lost his last shred of dignity in the black route
atleast his white route was still somewhat enjoyable but yea watch yourself with him and Paperbag because as much as I like to say there were no bad ends these two are like uhuh riiight?
Ah well otome games are always like that, one route that just rubs you the wrong way
you can't like everything but this game does a good job of finding paths that you could like.
Chiharu was the most well-rounded route and I also really liked him, he's so wholesome it hurts.๐Ÿ˜ญ
Overall I think this was a pretty good otome game some parts might be a bit cliche
but that's not necessarily a bad thing if it doesn't try to be something its not and
the plot was okay too, for what it was worth this was mostly enjoyable.
I don't know what else to say but if you want to try a more classic
yet modern(for today's standard) this game is a good bet! that is if you don't mind it being simple.
7,6/10

My playorder was:
Kazumi > Masamune > Yumeji > Chiharu > Paperbag.
Idk if there was some recommended order but none are locked nor was there a story that had
to be played out in specific order so you can do whoever you fancy in whatever order you want!

This is the end of non-spoiler section, more ramblings about routes after the jump.

Shinigami to shoujo - review

 Genre: Otome Visual Novel.
Developer/publisher: TAKUYO
Platform: PSP, PSV.
Official Site:
Release date: 2019-07-25

I finally decided to get started on this while getting into the otome mood again
after a hiatus, this was also the last vita otome game that I had ordered.
I've always wanted to check this one out and am glad I got it before i couldn't like with psp ver
unfortunately the otome game part of this game while its there is rather disappointing.
The seiyuu are unknowns except for Suzuki, Nojima and Kanna though the latter you
don't hear often anymore either. That aside the play order is kind of
forced on you there's not much free choice but to listen to Takuyo.
The heroine was voiced but only in the prologue, ending and Touya/Ao route
which was jarring but I guess budget? so I can't complain for doing it that way.
I personally love the art style, the music is also amazing so there's that.

Pro's
- Interesting char's/story which is what kept me going tbh.
- Beautiful art and music was really good.
- No annoying minigames like in Himehibi.

Con's
- Length, slight copy pasta and takes too long to get to the heart of the matter.
- The otome part of the game is lacking.

Our heroine Sayo loves stories especially her brothers who's an author. Sayo's bro
tells her about one of his works shinigami to shoujo which was pretty sad.
Sayo is a pretty rich girl, loves books especially her bro's and has an ojou-sama air about her
and she has only one friend Kaho, whom is Sayo's only friend cuz no one puts up with her.
Sayo lives with her bro due to family issues  and not only does her brother like her
Sayo also has a brocon for him......

Every chapter so far basically deals with someone having a problem, chapter two was
Louis claiming to be the protag of one of Toya's stories... as if the Tomoe's episode
in ch1 wasn't enough now we have a fanboy? oh well at this point it was kind of
hard to see how all this was important to the story in the long run
but apparently these stories run paralel to those in the books and did foreshadow
a little about another problem regarding the protagonist Sayo.
Chapter 4 is where it gets messy, the first route that you're recommended
to do, wasn't even resolved properly till you continue ch4 common.
TBH the common route was pretty boring, just slice of life and dealing with
random peoples problems that untill you do the latter two routes
don't really seem to amount to anything or make sense.
The writer is the same as taishou x alice but even that managed to be a lil better
in the otome game department, atleast the story was still good so it evens out a little.

If you enjoy a good story and char's then I can recommend Shinigami to Shoujo
but if not and just want an otome with a some-what decent story and romance
then I suggest to pass on this game, as its just not going to pass for one.
I didn't have much expectations for this but as an otome? a let down.
Not having much else to do lately I was able to enjoy it either way
cuz the story was pretty interesting to keep playing even if otome/romance was lacking a lot.
While I don't mind Sayo's constant uwu'ing over Toya at the early hours, it doesn't make it much better as some could find it annoying even. Atleast all the chara's were likeable in someway.
Trying not to spoil but while the strong points are that its overall story and characters
are still very well written the otome game part can be disappointing/confusing
especially the first route it felt like there was only a route because it is an otome game afterall.
I don't want to discourage anyone from trying it out as the story was enjoyable/interesting
but it is quite messy as an otome game and confusing till you get to the bottom of it
and even then... unless you like thought provoking psychological stories I suggest to pass on this
I think the writer definitely improved or had better direction with the recent Taishou x Alice.

 7/10
This is a good visual novel if you enjoy thought-provoking stories with romance second.

That ends the spoiler-free section.

Himehibi ~Princess Days~ Review

ใฒใ‚ใฒใณ -Princess Days-
Game: [Himebibi ~Princess Days~]
Genre: Otome Visual Novel.
Developer/publisher: Takuyo.
Platform: PS2, PSP, PS Vita.
Release date: 2017-07-20

After the previous disaster otomege I wanted a more normal otome game that doesn't take itself
too seriously with light drama and since this is like the only recently (re)released game in my backlog I went for it. Being a Takuyo game, no one probably gives 2 cents about their games... but here I am!

Its pretty fun despite the cliche setting of girl goes to all boys school...
I went into this with little expectations which was probably for the best.
You've probably realized this ain't a story heavy otome game, it does have a story, some members
of the board of directors don't even want the heroine to go to this elite boys only school.
Some developments actually surprised me but its not much, I liked how every route
tried it slightly different. The language used isn't that difficult, they don't
use that many Kanji so this is perfect for beginners but keep in mind
having a fair grasp of the language is still necessary.

Pro's
- Comedy, (mostly) light-hearted shojo-like otome game.
- Great cast of characters.
- Art, old but it still looks great.
 - Read text marking, no copy pasted scenes and can skip over with ease.

Con's
- Can't skip minigames on 2nd+ play.
- Have to hold R button to read skip.
- Repetitive scenario.

System... typical choices to make but also you need to do a minigame and succeed to give
out flyers to people so Aizaki can become the school idol(thank you Ken for this brilliant keikaku).
If you fail the dude may never notice you- nah I am kidding about that.
I still think the minigame solely exists to break the mold of only having to read
because I really don't see the point outside of Ken's subplot, it quickly became a nuisance
of having to hand out flyers and score 500~ points. Okay its not that hard because
it becomes memorization game, if blond bishonen, short black haired kid
or bandana dude show up on the screen its ok to press the button really early. ^^;
There's another minigame in the 2nd half to give fanservice... but you can get away
with button mashing a little so its less of a hassle to get the needed 1000+ points.

Common route itself is pretty long, the latter part is shared with another character
but the routes aren't long its of average length, doesn't beat around the bush!
There's a flag system something like Geten no Hana or Harutoki, if you ignore
characters it won't get you their ending. A downside... only way to skip is to hold
the R button but for some reason they automatically put it on skip all
from the start I don't even know if there was a readskip.
I wish Takuyo would have upgraded this game a little because this is so 2006-ish
well atleast the text already read was marked so it was easy to stop skipping
However I am sure I missed a new line appearing here or there... sometimes
I can't be bothered to go back for it, a line of text or two is not going to be a big deal.

The art... it doesn't look like it belongs in the current generation
but is it bad? not at all, infact its beautiful and fine the way it is
besides the characters still look handsome especially Rinto.
Music fits the mood... its not as bad as ye olde idea factory bgms that's for sure
as for the OP I let it play once or twice but then I skipped it.

In short:
If you are looking for an otome game with an amazing ''story'' I suggest you look elsewhere
himehibi is anything but that, its a simple but classy modern day shojo-like story.
Compared to the last otome game I played Aizaki was actually a decent heroine
Aizaki will speak her mind and isn't a doormat constantly moaning about her problems
she can't fix, she's pretty head-strong but that doesn't mean she's not allowed to be weak
or have girl problems.
The first route took me a while to finish maybe its because early on each ingame
day was relatively short and a bit of a repeat but I am glad it didn't go on longer than needed.
Overall this game's length is average but when I think about it its just right, most will fly by
on 2nd+play the unskippable minigames started to annoy me by route 4 but to be honest
they're not that bad at all.๐Ÿ˜… The characters are all great tho except Kitsuneme-san๐Ÿ˜ก
they threw in a good dose of comedy I often found myself snickering at a piece of dialogue
so yeah it has fun, serious and sad moments but all in all it is light-hearted.
You could say this game is like prince of stride except much older.
A turn off could be like two of the romantic interests are cousins to the protagonist
and she had a crush on one of them from the start but atleast they're not blood related.
Ahaha this excuse will never get old will it?
That aside I still found them likeable so it didn't bother me that much... like I have seen worse.
I suppose I could critize the subplot of becoming the school idol and the minigame it
brings with it but eh... its part of the game and if you remove it you'd be left with very little.
If you are going to play this otome game I recommend to start with Naohito the rest of the order
doesn't matter just try to do the characters that are paired up with each other right after the other.
Naohito > Masaya > Hikaru > Yamato > Shinobu > Rinto; should be a good order.

The game ends where it should, there's plenty room for more but part of me is glad
Takuyo doesn't really milk their games. Yes there's a himehibi 2 but it has a completely
different protagonist and some returning faces. That aside this didn't really leave that big
of an impression on me but it was still refreshing. Himehibi is perfect
for beginners/those who don't expect much out of otome games.

Since this is just a straight port there's nothing new or updated except now it can be enjoyed
on the clean psvita screen so if one has already played the ps2/psp version there's little reason
to get it unless you're a fan, ''i'd recommend himehibi if one want an otome game
with fun characters, a simple story that doesn't try to be something it is not''.

You should probably stop reading here if you don't want spoilers.

Getsuei no Kusari -Kyouran Moratorium- - Review

ๆœˆๅฝฑใฎ้Ž– ―็‹‚็ˆ›ใƒขใƒฉใƒˆใƒชใ‚ขใƒ ―
Game: [Getsuei no Kusari -Kyouran Moratorium-]
Genre: Otome Game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher: Takuyo.
Platform: PS Vita.
Release date: 2016-12-21

The FD of Getsuei no Kusari Sakuran Paranoia, since the original game was
anything but the typical otome game don't expect a lot of fluff from this.
Its still keeps the serious theme the original had so if you're in the mood
for something realistc/mature these games are an excellent choice but
I do not recommend playing this without the original since its a fandisk.
Nor can I recommend playing both right after the other even if this is short it still can give you
much despair, it didn't bother me but it may others to the point they might drop it.

I didn't particularly care for the OP movie this time, I only like watched it once or twice and then skipped it.
But yeah if you still don't get it, this FD mainly exists for Mamoru and the newly added
scenario for the Toudou brothers you may need new glasses. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

This vita port of Kyouran Moratorium really is what you'd call a definitive version
as it adds a new scenario with two guys Toudou Itsuki and Toudou Miyabi, they're brothers
and this made it a bit more worthwhile than the PSP version because of that.
Especially for the price and Takuyo's games tend to be slighly more expensive...
Sadly these two are completely new and don't appear anywhere outside of their own scenario
yeah you read that right they do not even appear in the other newly added IF scenario.
Anyway... the original features of the FD make it seem pretty short, the another stories are
slightly longer than the good afters which are around 30 minutes at most.
Mamoru's route was maybe 5-6 hours so together thats give or take 10 hours.
But if you add in Hanayagi IF story and the Toudou brothers routes....
that would make the length at around 25-30 hours, btw tour of koukashi is just a side dish.
If you have a lot of free time in the weekend you may just finish it very fast but if you
spread it out due to the despair getting to you then yeah it may take you a week or more.
Personally I finished this within 2-4 days...
Also if you actually got this game I really recommend you to end this game with
the tour of koukashi as its the most fun and entertaining thing this fandisc has to offer.
The part where Hibiki went on about the Dango got to me... ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Despite the added content it was still a short FD but after Ken ga Kimi Momoyo Tsuzuri
any other fandisk in general is short.๐Ÿ˜‚
The seiyuu did a good job especially Naruse Makoto, thats one you do not hear often
and also Kanna Nobutoshi and Satou Takuya... they also had such a good performance!

TL;DR
I recommend this if you enjoyed the original, don't bother if you didn't since its more of the same.
It gets an 8/10 from me, same score as I gave the original, all of the good afters
were great and the another stories weren't bad except maybe Satoya's.
The rest of the content was worth it too except Hanayagi IF story... which I personally didn't care for but that my own opinion.

My play order of the content was decided by personal preference which is:
Mamoru > Nozomu > Hibiki >Satoya > Wataru  > Hanayagi IF > Itsuki > Miyabi > Tour of Koukashi.
