Mistonia no Kibou the lost delight - Review

Eh... Edward's smile seems creepy on the cover but he ain't.
Genre: VN.
Developer/publisher: Otomate.
Platform: Switch.
Official Site: https://www.otomate.jp/mistonia/
Release date: 18-7-2024.

This VN was delayed by like a month and is also slated for an english release by aksys.
At first I wasn't sure if I should bother getting it in JP but still went with it.
The heroine did seem cool & its been a long time since I played a VN with a maid as the protagonist
the last one was like crimson empire, I had a rather laidback/slow approach toward Mystonia
and so it took me longer to get through! i'm sure if I had pushed it then I could have been done
in a week or so but why the rush?  Otomate's september lineup may be stacked
but unfortunately half of their games don't interest me right now.

Pro's
- There's enough intrigue to get hooked.
- Length is comfy, not overly long or drags on.
- Gorgeous Art and fitting BGM.

Con's
- Boring common route, probably the least exciting part of the game.
- Overall story elements can feel repetitive the more routes you do.
- The content in the other ends needs an acquired taste, also it has NTR.

Storywise this game has revenge themes so if you're not comfortable with those it could
be a skip, for me I think it depends on how it is handled but am disappointed with how
Mistonia implented it, its like they chose to push petty revenge which did not sit well with me.
**Thankfully it is still an otome game and taking revenge isn't always the best outcome.
This game's characters are also intertwined with each other. Each set is between the heroine
and two guys such as Ascot/John, Edward/Linus and Lukas/Alfred which works
with one particular ending each route called Maze. This maze end was by far
the worst possible outcome in the game and more often than not I just regret doing it.

I'll say the cast of the game sure was a vibrant bunch! there's a mix of well known
and lesser known seiyuu's as well. If you've been playing otome's or watching anime
for a while you will definitely hear some old favorites.
Due to the huge cast of characters I did worry this game would be on the long side
but it wasn't that long at all the common route was roughly 3 hours. Its only long if you do all.
Perhaps this game had too many characters because it was hard trying to keep
track of them all and even then some barely had any screen time so if you
did not pay much attention something could have easily pass you by
which may or may not have happened to me. More on that later.

The art looked very distinct and unique, some charactter designs looked like
this was a serious game but then I looked at the CG's on the official site
and it seemed much lighter? needless to say the art looked gorgeous.
I think there was only one CG that looked derpy to me.
The music was pretty good at setting the mood and tone of the scenes.

I thought the beginning was pretty good & got me hooked, the story beats there were well executed
as you get a look at the heroine's life and hints about there being more to it all. Rose/Applause
doesn't work alone and there are other maids including a shy/clumsy one as well as butlers etc.
Its just chapters 1 through 3 can feel a bit repetitive which is likely my only complaint about it.

System is standard stuff but you'll be having to select where to go on a map quite a bit.
Most scenes after selecting where to go are relatively short, so with a guide it may seem
like a lot but its really not that long. You really do work as a maid at a mansion!
Eh as long as you watch every event with characters or go to a room with a gem u're good.
Those scenes can range from boring to mildly interesting and/or funny. There's three main endings
for each route as well but honestly the only endings I cared about were the happy ends.

The common route was pretty boring, Rose/Applause works as a maid
and will see other characters interact as she works, at the end of the day
the gem fragments you collect will form better information of what happened.
Due that I think the investigation part of the common route is the worst part of this game.
I did not fully understand the gemstone stuff but they're like memory fragments
and so Rose can get a better view of what transpired between characters which may or may not
help her own search for the truth. Its not like Rose was an onlooker, she was doing
her job the whole time! and quite well but honestly I don't think she could ever
be a favourite of mine mostly due to how she treats the guys in the maze ends, it completely
ruins the mood. Lucas nor Linus among others did not deserve any of that and in the case
of Linus his maze end was by far the worst written in every possible way.
Other maze ends ranged from mildly entertaining to wtf is this BS, looking at you Ascot.
I mean I am all for different outcomes but the heroine could be really manipulative
which can either work in her favor or against her. It never felt good to me.

Hmmm..........
Do you ever just play an otome game that you think had a pretty decent plot and characters
but you just couldn't enjoy certain aspects of it? to me Mistonia falls into that category.
I know full well that it is impossible to like everything but it seems this was done
by multiple writers as the shift in tone between endings and/or routes was just too much.
Next the characters; you got some like Lucas who're really interesting
but are just sleepers in other routes or there as support like Alfred tends to be
so when I got to the truth route it felt like what if all the tiny threads combined
and then throws a bunch of new stuff at you that's suddenly totally relevant, its so bad
that suddenly side characters have a much bigger role so sudden that my only reaction
to it was like oh okay!  Some of the overall plot across the 6 routes was also too repetitive
and there's another villain but... you never see much of them at all during said routes, only truth.
I can't remember this tiny foreshadowing and then barely any reference till 6+ route later.
Had this be one of my first otome games I think I would be much more forgiving but it is not.
Alright... Alright... ALRIGHT!
Mistonia definitely had a decent mystery and intrigue but just fell flat in the end
and I think its because too many different writers or one took care of the truth end
or this or that route and didn't touch jack else and worked with what they had.
**The length of the game may also be a problem because it can seem quite short
compared to other games and it can seem that a lot is crammed into a chapter
so while its not boring it can certainly seem like its rushed itself.
I do wonder who worked on Lucas route though because I really liked that one.

Doesn't help I had trouble to get into it because the heroine had a constant poker face, it wasn't
through halfway a route I could see any romance. Its basically full of serious tones but early on
it doesn't seem that serious yet and plays most of them out in a fairly light manner
so despite being revenge themed I myself am not even thinking of revenge half of the time.
It did get better when you get onto a route but the common route didn't do it any favors.
Simply put I was a bit mixed on the vibes and it could change depending on routes.

I did however really like the character interactions between main and sub
it kept it engaging when the plot wasn't really there yet. It took untill
midway of Lucas's route before I started to get invested in literally anything.
In said route the plot/romance was actually pretty good, idk if it was because
I did Lucas first but I had a good time which is what matters anyway.
Alfred's route was a bit of a sleeper, its honestly best to do him first or second.
Linus actually grabbed my attention and was interesting from his 1st chapter.
ASScot's route was an entertaining dumpster fire but I started losing interest at Edward
and thought most of his route was boring and wondered what he even add to the plot
because Ascot's route brought so many revelations I was like what else is there?
Edward's route wasn't very exciting in comparison which isn't good tbh.
John's route was pretty great from the start and I was relieved since it was worth sitting
through 5 routes to get to him. Maybe your opinion could differ but I enjoyed John's route.

Fair warning this game does have NTR ending(s) needless to say if you hate that trope
don't do the ending related to it, its always the maze end so just stick with best end.
To be safe maybe don't do both of Asscot's Clown&Maze endings.
I know Rose is in it for revenge but I just don't like the idea or appeal of some guy even slightly
disappointing you in some way to make everything worse for them or to switch to guy B
because A isn't useful. I know that this plays very well into a certain character but damn not for me.
I guess I am just not that petty of a person which may be why the best end was enough for me.
Atleast the choices make you have a say in the matter so that is good.

I definitely did love Lucas, there's actually a very good reason he is like that.
Mistonia can be slow at first and it could seem not as interesting but it may pay off
to keep paying attention as you go through the common and individual.
NGL the common route investigation part reminds me of VN's from 10 years ago.
So is it good? well if you're looking for an otome with an active protagonist and a fun
cast of characters with some fluff despite serious tones it still gets my recommendation
especially if you're tired of longer otome games, you'll still get a solid package here but if
you hate NTR or the MC manipulating situations for her own ends this game is not for you.
Granted most of that stuff is reserved for the clown/maze ends but its still something to be wary of.
Even after everything I am still not sure how I feel about the MC, I only really liked her in the best
ends, mostly everything else just made me feel umcomfortable that I want to pretend I didn't do them.
I just am not able to vibe with this heroine when she pulled some of the stunts that she did.
6/10
I initially gave it an 8 but man those other ends just... NO.
**Even a day after beating it I am like is my score too high? oonly route I thought was
really good was Lucas, others don't compare so I dropped it by 1 point.
I will say Mistonia has some very high production values from sprites,CG's to the
background art and also the music. None of that was bad at all, neither was some of the story.
Also I can see why this was picked up for localization, being undercover as a maid
is a cool idea and could hook folks even if they're not into otome games.
However if you do end up playing this and the heroine doesn't vibe with you then that is okay
and then this game may not be for you! Rose is just written to appeal to certain angles.

As for playorder  I was mostly interested in Linus and Lucas as well as John
but unfortunately there are restrictions for Edward,Ascot and John.............
Edward needs Linus,Lucas and Alfred. Ascot can be done after Two/three good ends
of those initially availabe. John basically needs all so no choice with that one.
Recommended order: Lucas / Alfred /  Linus >  Asscot > Edward > John.
I recommed this because the initial three have no restrictions
but if you care about the story then its best to do Linus before Ascot
and with this you can have some free choice based on personal preference.

As per usual spoiler and route babbles after the jump, if you don't want those then stop reading here. Like always I will share some of my favorite CG's as well but not all of them.
Side note writing Applause is weird all the time so I refer to the heroine by her alias Rose.

Lucas Sullivan.
CV: Suzuku Ryouta.
This guy didn't have the best of first impressions, he's the cranky shut-in and seems to not be having
a good time. I was still full of hopes he would get enough development by the end of the route.
Idk Lucas is complicated he doesn't like people and can be grumpy but still puts up with stuff
he really does have a cute side.  It is also pretty obvious Lucas had a bucket load of issues.
Lucas can be a bit witty too and there's a gap moe of some sort as well didn't think he was that cute.
The scene at the end of the common route was hilarious when he made Rose
eat her own words and make her blush as well. I think this is what I loved the most NGL.
The route had really weird vibes and felt eery, Lucas is also quite intimidating at times...
there were times I liked him but more often than not I was put off and was like yikes!
but without trying to understand you get nowhere and there was probably a good reason of why
Lucas is the way he is... thank you FFXIV for getting that message across in your latest expansion.
Rose basically becomes his personal attendant and some things seem to be amiss.
The eerieness and mistique vibes grew on me but I will admit the wings some characters got looked off.
Lucas is a Will-o-wisp and his family guides the spirits and such but it not as strong as it used to be.
Rose can see the black spirits things as well and Lucas was really relieved by that
since he was basically the only one who saw those things.
When she returns she saw him being engulved in black flames and wondered if she imagined it.
Everything starts to make sense now, like why he was so distant. At this point they were
closer and I could start to see hints of romance as well. Progression felt natural.
Lucas has some ties to an old friend Riley who is also Rose's older brother, they used to talk
a lot about the cock robin story which may be related to certain events having transpired.
Lucas had other brothers who targeted and blame him... even wanting him to die.
They're long dead but its still haunting him... which also explains a lot. Lucas actually doesn't
think he has the right to call Riley a friend like Riley thought him to be his friend.
All because of what Lucas did.... he believes he could be saved but it requires
the ability Rose gained from her contract with Oberon. She still wants to take
revenge so is unwilling to do so, Goneril tries to make it clear revenge isn't so simple.
Lucas is pretty much the one who brought death that day with his flames, at the order of the queen....
as turns out he has some sort of contract with her which he can't refuse.
Rose was absolutely livid at this revelation but then Lucas tells her something Riley said to him.
If something were to happen to Riley that Lucas should help his sister. Lucas really agonizes
over these things or the things he did. Lucas even tries to help her bring the knife to his throat.
Lucas calls himself a good for nothing and that he is tired of all this.........
Rose doesn't know what to do anymore and runs off LMAO.
When things calmed down they talked more and it basically boils down to him
being a servant of the fairy queen so he hadn't much of a choice.
Alfred ends up being a wingman of sorts...  Rose wonders what she wants to do, not the
revenge seeking girl she was 8 years ago but the woman she is now.
Alfred helps to come up with some plan to take the queen's power
which may in turn help Lucas with his own problem.
The romance was so funny like Lucas be about to confess so he goes
in for the kill but Rose just is like sorry and runs off. 😂😂😂
Alfred continues being a wingman and Rose meets the queen who upon
finding out her real identity wants to use her as a vessel. Now it starts to make sense
why her family tried to hide her that unfortunate day. Lucas randomly shows up
trying to protect Rose, calling her an idiot for being reckless for doing this.
The queen wonders why Lucas is betraying her... Alfred thansk him for his timely appearance
and tells Rose to cut off the queen's wings. Oberon shows up asking to return the wing to him
and their contract will be complete. He causes one final hissy fit as he wants to take
Tia back with him but Alfred disagrees. Lucas tries to protect Rose.
Tia gets her wings back for some reason saying she knew what Oberon tried to do
but didn't know he used Rose to do it. There's some sort of explosion
and the mark on Rose hand changes and she's overwhelmed by it.
In the epilogue *screaming kids noises* John hands out copies of the blue robin...
Goneria wonders if they're happy now and John can't help but say the same.
Lukas drew Rose like one of the french girls- no he just sketched her looking happy.
Oberon went missing and Tia... went into a slumber there's a lot of uncertainty.
Rose ends up giving Lucas a ring which makes him unable to hear the ghastly voices
because that's how much she cares about him. Lucas trolls her for a second
because he was about to say something before she whipped out that ring.😂😂😂
You probably already knew it was a love confession and that was... correct.
IDEK end: Rose bids farewell to Lucas and there's nothing he can do.
She works with Alfred to take down the queen. John doesn't like it one bit
so he thinks its better for them both to leave this place but there's no stopping Rose.
John gives up and delivers a letter to Lucas at her request. He regrets not trying to stop her...
Things went wrong and Alfred dropped like a fly, Lucas showed up but Rose
jumped in front of him as Tia attacked him. This was not her intention
and Tia despairs at hurting her dear vessel. Lucas can't bear it...
Maze end: Rose is being pursuaded by Alfred and Lucas desperately searches for her
because he still has something to tell her. He knows there may not be much he can do but still...
Lucas did find her and one of his brother's breathes his last. The only thing Rose said
is that she wanted him to be happy before running away meanwhile Lucas is heartbroken.
Later Lucas hears Rose and Alfred are too be married and he gets even more upset, rightfully so.
Knowing this situation is bad, Lucas decides to get off his arse and get between the two of them......
trying to steal Rose back from Alfred. OMG its like one of those oh guys don't fight over me.😳
I didn't ask for any of this...💀💀💀
Errr well aside the weird ntr/3p end I was actually surprised just how much Lucas grew on me!
story was pretty good and romance was just enough... the ending isn't
the most well rounded though as some stuff are still up in the air but in terms
of romance & reveals its pretty satisfying. Except NTR/3P end because
I hate NTR or when the heroine chooses someone else/other LI when it not their route.
Its interesting it is possible but eh it felt really random to have this sort of drama happen
it like added nothing to the rest of the plot as well and just made me dislike both the heroine
and another love interest. Like wtf otomate?! no one asked for this atleast not me.
The NTR/3P end legit made me uncomfortable and wish I hadn't seen/done it.😨
Route rating 9/10

Alfred Creswell.
CV: Umehara Yuuichiro.
Mister let's take down the government. Not!Alhaitham.
I wasn't particularly interested in Alfred so I did him second and hoped for the best!
Alfred is a bit of a curt bastard, he's a typical nobleman so you should expect just that.
Unfortunately Umehara-san is being typecasted as an intellectual beautiful male yet again
and I can't help but hear Alhaitham instead. Route is pretty slow at first, it almost
didn't feel like I was on Alfred's route yet. We already knew from Lucas route
that Alfred plans to go against the queen, we find this out really early in his own route.
Unfortunately Alfred's route wasn't very interesting, the romance was even less
there than in Lucas's route so it was just kind of dry. It does make it look like a very big
deal to Alfred's secret group, basically if you're caught being a rat you're out.
Lucas's route did kinda gloss over some things that're explained right off the bat here.
Turns out Alfred was also involved in the attack on Rose's village, he had his reasons
but for some reason he is glad that she still made it out and is alive and well.
Rose actually wanted to kill him where he stands the moment she found out he was involved.
Alfred wants Rose to hold on to her anger and direct it towards the queen
because overthrowing her is his real motive and he won't rest till its done.
They promised eachother that his life was hers for the taking AFTER he gets his shit done.
Not much romance since you mostly work together with a terrorist leader.
I guess it could be romantic in itself... but omg time and place nothing happened.
Rose had to be told she could be in love with him by the other two maids at a PJ party........
anyway nothing to be ashamed about you can't stop those feelings of love amirite!
Rose wasn't even so sure of it herself so I couldn't get into it either, the vibes just aren't right tbh.
Not much happened till like some officers bust into their hideout but they all turn to normal
after Rose used the power of her crest, they could barely remember what they were even doing.
Alfred sends them on his way while he will talk to Linus, SUSpicious. Alfred wanted to be sure
of her resolve too as he does need her but the route was just too dry I SLEEP.
Alfred did mention he absolutely doesn't want her to get hurt in all this even at the cost of his.
There's honestly not many CG's I fancied in this route...
They meet the queen and Alfred gives her a speech about how he wants her to return
to tirnanog, that the people deserve better than to be ruled by a fairy queen.
Tia realizes Rose is the one she has been searching for and Rose would like nothing more
than to kill her for what she did to her loved ones. Tia says its their own fault cuz they fleed
she goes on to say that it is her fault as well, for literally existing.
Alfred jumps between them because he knows its not true and that Rose
shouldn't be close to Tia or let her be swept away by the fairy queen who thinks she i
this person called Elise. Together with Alfred they try to take down the queen
but Alfred got hurt in the process. Oberon shows up to take Tia back
saying that he won't interfere with the human world again as well
this time without a hissy fit. Rose and Alfred get all sappy.
The people can't believe the queen is gone and think the country is done for
but Edward steps in saying this isn't the end, they'll work something out.
Leonard and John came in just in time to treat Alfred's wounds but he's been bedridden since.
He woke up eventually things just get sappy again but they're both happy with eachother.
This newfound happiness is something Rose wants to protect and/or fight for.
John's fine with anything as long as Rose is happy... oh my man you'll get your turn!
IDEK end: Alfred decides he's just not handing over Rose to Tia no matter what.
It is almost identical to the best end except Rose tries to make a deal with Oberon who is like
whatever! Alfred suffered grievous wounds and the overall outcome is less than desired.
Rose continues on her revenge quest and Lucas is next, Alfred suddenly finds himself
wandering and wondering why he is even out here. He hopes Rose is okay
then realizes he is reliving that day 8 years ago before being awoken by Leonard.
The people beg Alfred to take responsibility now that the queen is gone as well...
then Leonard tells him that Rose has continued to kill people related to 8 years ago.
Then she came in and tells him face to face she has killed both Edward and Lucas.
It didn't end there and even Linus and Ascot have fallen to Rose's hands.
Alfred can't fathom why any of this is happening... Rose is eventually caught and persecuted
for the killer she is and Alfred can't do anything about it. Even so he loved her.
Maze/NTR end: Because I liked Lucas I strangely looked forward to this which I shouldn't have.
Rose decides to switch sides and ask for Lucas's opinion on the situation
after Alfred realizes he was wrong about his approach to things
and he even notices something was amiss about how Rose carries herself.
Charlotte let's it slip Rose has been meeting with Lucas... now Alfred wants answers
but it is obvious she can no longer see him, he still has questions and  eventually he has enough.
It appears Lucas and Rose pulled off some kind of stunt, in the throne room
where the queen would be, Rose, Lucas and John appear. Rose has become the new queen.
First she betrayed Oberon and then took the queen's powers as her own...???
she then disappear into the unknown, Alfred can't do a thing. 💀💀💀
Lucas tells Alfred that Rose did this for his sake all along... even so his life is still hers.
-
Now that I have done Alfred's route I can see why otomate would recommend him first
because he can be good at explaining the grandscheme of things than other routes
like Lucas will gloss over in favor of romance or their own development.
Their wasn't much fluff or romance here and if there was romance it was quite subtle, the tone
was pretty serious instead but the route does over a different perspective to things.
Honestly this was a sleeper route and I barely remember anything of note happening
but there was definitely payoff for whatever was going on.
Also wtf was THAT ending??!! i'm so confused like... maybe she didn't want to kill
Alfred after all so she isolates herself because the fairy powers are 2strong well unlike Lucas
Maze ending atleast this felt like it was like a warning or she just wanted to fuck him over.
Also I need to get this off my chest but wtf why is Umehara everywhere? why is he
always some intelligent beautiful male? stop typecasting him!😭😭😭
Route rating 5/10

Linus Ward.
CV: Umeda Shuuichiro.
Linus was generally nice, he was too good for this world, too pure! like a cinnamon roll
and I wanted to do him first but decided against it... kinda save him for later deal.
Turns out its good I did cuz Linus is like the surprise childhood friend
and he knew Rose when she was still a little girl, he even liked her.
Turn out Linus was out in the country side for rehab after suffering an injury.
Rose just conveniently remembered it quite early in the route... unlike elsewhere.
It gets brought up in a conversation between the two quite early and Rose does
remind him of someone, someone that was probably his first love.
He buys her  a drink when out in town and she got all flustered and a lil drunk, see above^.
Rose started calling him chester and started petting him like a dog or something.😂
They catch a little kid who was causing trouble, he knew Linus too... as the hound of the fairy queen.
Turns out Linus has kemonomimi as well, so cute totez adorbz. NGL it is cute...
sadly Linus himself doesn't like that form of him and prefers them to be hidden.
For some reason Linus starts to sound like Rose's mother when she stays the night
at his place because there was a heavy downpour and oh no maybe you caught a cold, lol.
Unfortunately it seems one of Linus's henchmen saw Rose and John interact
and he will try to catch whoever is behind the looking glass organization.
Rose ends up in a situation of sorts and Linus tells her not to underestimate him
and sort of forces hiimself on her as he wonders if she really loves him like he does.
Rose finds it weird but she tries to put up a tough front, she isn't sure of it yet.
Even Oberon finds it odd what is happening and hope Rose didn't forget her contract with him.
Linus won't actually go that far but he was testing Rose and he won't let her get away since
he does suspect her. After they go to sleep she hears him sleeptalking about how she should run.
In the past Linus was part of the reason they found out about Rose but he refused
to tell them directly where she was. Rose figures out he was worried about it all this time
like Linus doesn't even like going to sleep because it still haunts him.
Linus thinks that if that girl was still alive she may resent him but Rose
doesn't quite feel that way especially not how she just saw him.
Rose doesn't quite know how to handle this situation... Edward came to pick up Rose
but Linus is not quite ready to return her to him, she should just be a simple maid anyway.
Rose came outside while the two stared at each other with thunder in their eyes........
Rose still decides to return because there's not much reason to remain with Linus anyway.
She faked hard to get the hound off her ass and eventually Linus gives up on his game of tag.
Later Ascot approaches her and says he is her ally while giving her a knife
she could use against the queen. For some reason Ascot sees right through her act now
but tells her to hold onto it for now. Rose and John still pull off their plan
and she gets the opportunity to meet the queen because Ascot jumps in as well.
Linus knew she would show up... so they had an awkward reunion. The CG here wasn't one
of my fav's it was actually one of the worst looking ones and may as well not be there.
Rose and Linus are forced to fight, Linus is not in a position to defy the queen...
then another explosion happens and Rose thinks about everything that happened thus far
and she just can't take advantage of the situation and kill him. Instead she listens to her heart
and tells Linus that she likes him, Linus can't help but feel happy to have his feelings
be reciprocated even after so long. Rose is no longer there when he wakes up
and Ascot makes fun of him before going off saying something along the lines of
what's stronger your loyality to the queen or your first love?
Oberon shows up early and says there's no reason to kill Tia if he is taking her back.
Turns out Rose is some descendant of the Einzel's who Tia has been looking for.
Rose still can't forgive Tia so Oberon gets in the way, Tia doesn't want him to intervere
so they duke it out for a little not that Oberon had much of a chance by himself. >_>;
Rose saw a chance and took it to use the knife on Tia, Linus shows up just in time
to give her one final push. Heh I guess love's stronger than his loyalty to the queen.
All's well that ends well... Rose moves in with Linus while recovering from the ordeal.
Edward thinks her new look suits her more, everyone works to deal with the aftermath of the
situation and the queen's passing. Alfred took on a whole lot so there's not much to worry about.
Edward says its best for the two to leave for a while and they go traveling.
Linus is glad the long nightmare is over and she has shown him a new dawn...
IDEK end: Rose and Linus duke it out when they meet after the plan is set in motion but
it goes on for so long John got between them and he brought her back with him.
Linus followed them and things went to hell and back, for some reason
Linus can no longer tell what is right or wrong and Rose is using this fact???
Its some side effect of the contract Rose was under. Rose says she is now very happy
for some reason while Linus slaughtered someone, eh weird end wtf happened here.
Maze/NTR end: Rose chooses to go with Edward over Linus for real when they were staring
daggers at each other. Edward wants to protect her and hopes Rose is willing to talk
to him about her issues. Edward even found out her true idenity... so he wants her
to be honest about everything. He says he is different from his father and doesn't
think the same way so he won't become her enemy. Edward simply wants to do what
he thinks is best for the country. Rose decides to follow along with it.
Linus shows up at one of the parties and would like to dance with her out in the garden...
just for a moment because they're both free. Then he tells her he knows who she is
and will have to catch her because that is his job even if he doesn't want to.
Linus wants to have faith in Rose that she chose this path because it will ultimately help him too.
She doesn't have to say anything more and that he trusts her judgment in taking Ed's hand
then tells her he loves her now as much as back in his childhood but he's sure she has
noticed Ed's feelings for her as well. Later Linus ends up getting killed and it eats at him
because if he hadn't gotten between him and Rose this likely wouldn't have happened.
Rose for some reason remembers when Linus asked her if she really loved him
and then Edward askes her if she can stay at his side while he cries his heart out
he knows full well he may be responsible for this outcome. Rose starts pretending
Linus is right here with her even if the person infront of her is Edward.
Meanwhile Linus just wanted her to be happy...
Linus had a pretty good route from begin to end, the CG's were all good except one and most
were in locations that you'd like to see them. Linus was easy to like perhaps unable to be disliked.
Out of the first three routes Linus is an easy favorite for me, very well rounded
and able to execute most story beats without sacrificing romance.
The IDEK end was weird as hell I wasn't even sure what went wrong here...
and the other end was basically haha no, wait your turn FFS Edward, it was a mess
like it wasn't even interesting just some drama that adds nothing to the rest of the plot
like Linus did not deserve that BS in the triangle end ok?
Route rating 8/10

ASScot Lindell.
CV: Fukuyama Jun.
Its not Lelouch but they share the same Seiyuu...
I tend to call him Asscot because he's ass, typical flirty guy but everytime he opens
his mouth I hear Tomomori from Birushana and am immediately going oh no.
Honestly most of the time Ascot made me uncomfortable, atleast Tomomori was funny
this guy just tries to be too close for comfort, I did like the scene at the end of the
common route where he wanted to dance but Rose seemed more like she
was ready for combat! pretty hilarious so he had to show her how to act
as well as how eye contact can be very important in showing various emotions.
Ascot seemed to be very interested in the flames in Rose's eyes.
ANYWAY turns out Rose is not the only one he has been seeing and saying
sweet nothings to. Wow no surprise here! ASScot has an ex who are like get back here
while holding him at knife point with tears in her eyes saying but you said
you loved me! is it that woman over there... why you wouldn't love me!
Thankfully the ex girlfriend was disarmed quickly but wtf my dude...
how many of girls are there??!! My disappointment is immeasurable and the date was ruined.
Yea Rose ended up on a date with ASScot to find out more about him and there's a lot.
Turns out this pig ain't so innocent... he just enjoys fooling around but he's not the devil
Rose is after, however he figured she was trying to use him to get to the queen.
Then he straight up asks Rose to become lovers... even Rose is like wtf is your game here?
and so a deal with the devil was made, Asscot is strangely enjoying this.
Later Asscot muses to himself and then a familiar voice tells him to not lift a hair on Rose's head
the voice was most obviously John who did not trust this Asscot at all.
Asscot wants him to show his face besides its more civilized talking face to face!
unfortunately John was caught offguard and the scene faded to black.
Can you trust ASScot? it honestly remains to be seen. Rose has to go
on a date with him and go along with his whims or some of them.
All seems well till some horses ran wild in the town...
he draws her away from the street and he starts grinning
wondering why she still looks as if she has seen a monster.
He did nothing special but to simply protect her in that moment or so he says.
TBH I have difficulty trusting whatever comes out of his mouth especially
when half his CG's literally portray him as a maniac.
When Rose tells Evelyn and Charlotte about it all they can do is swoon like little girls
and think about how wonderful it all must have been.💀💀💀
Lily says ASScot's flirtatious behavior is to worry about and they wish he would stop
before he hurts another poor womans heart. She wonders if it related to the past
but even if they got hurt and tells Rose to becareful because love should be free choice.
Rose met up with John later who seems to be doing just fine... WHY WAS I WORRIED?!
Anyway ASScot says it is fine if she ends up using him, its really hard to explain but
he seems to imply that if Rose doesn't then the revenge she seeks will remain out of reach.
Rose made up her mind and ASScot what satisfied seeing the flames in her eyes
and then proceeds to kiss her like real lovers would. Heh its almost as if she made a deal
with the devil because ASScot sure feels like one or that is the vibe i'm getting.
MEANWHILE several scenes later ASScot is just up to his usual antics
and another poor woman is about to fall victim to it while Rose walks in on them.
Rose just goes like well that is very like him! which brings me to another matter
as this route seems to have brought up the concept of changelings...
it didn't seem important when it was first mentioned but yea what if?
Lily is like yea you'll get used to it that is him!
Ascot drops some bombs like if the fairy queen goes back to tirnanog then there's no other
chance to meet her because their current body/heart can't handle coming back.
Which brings up a point of the queen needing some sort of body/vessel to exist here
and Rose is one of those people that can become a vessel for the queen.
This was shown already in one of Alfred's bad ends. Ascot says he really
has no intention of betraying Rose because Oberon is the one using her.
Then Ascot let's loose the fact that if the queen passes away then he can stay
here in the human world to do as he pleases, which is what he wants.
Elsewhere we find out that ASScot is Oberon's other contract, Rose wasn't the only one.
So Asscot was their ally all along, he had no intention of getting in the way.
John finds out something and its about the real culprit behind it all, they're still alive
and John worries about what'll happen if Rose finds out. John is conflicted
because if he were to tell her then she may lose her motivation for revenge.
Rose managed to make Ascot's heart flutter for a moment, I don't understand this woman ISTG
something about always being saved made her want to save him for just a second.
It gets to the point that after everything's over he'd like to travel someplace faraway with her.
Tia noticed something off about Ascot... and not even he himself is sure of what is happening.
John voiced his concerns and says Ascot isn't someone to be trusted...
Rose isn't quite sure either and John figures it is because she doesn't know his secret.
That Ascot and the fairy queen are looking for a new vessel and that Riley is still alive
as well as the  fact that Rose is being used for Ascot's personal gain.
The goal now seems to switch to finding out Riley's location as well as to be wary of Ascot
anyway Rose decides to still talk to him about it and he confirms he did not see
Riley anywhere eight years. Right now he seems against Rose being the new vessel as well
as Ascots feelings have changed and become quite conflicted on what he does.
They end up meeting this Peter guy who is like literally Riley in appearance
and was basically forbidden to speak about his body because it cause quite a fuss
but he wants to return to tirnanog so he cooperates. Its like they put a spirit into his body
which is kinda why Tia seems so obsessed with getting Rose in other routes
because she is one of the few that can be a host to fairies. When meeting Tia she figures
Ascot is in love with someone to help him she must meet him but... that may be a bad idea.
He's also completely head over heels with Rose and like for real... so while he is trying
to tell her this some random fangril/ex of his runs through the mansion with a knife.😨
Rose ends up protecting Ascot by jumping between them and holding the knife..........
the woman says she isn't at fault but Rose is for being close to Ascot which leads
to Rose basically confessing how she feels about him and she likes him too.
Rose collapses and Ascot gets help to tend to her wound. Everyone is shocked
at what happened including me but eh could be worse? yea it could have been.
Ascot is furious because like she couuld have been dead! look at this guy
going for someone who was just messing with girls to being caring. Is he sick?😂
He literally begs Rose to promise him to never be so reckless again which brings him
on the topic of the fiary queen and they got 2 weeks to pull off a plan
even so it might be risky as Tia sees Rose as the split-image of Elise.
Before that he hopes Rose recovers from her previous ordeal while kissing her on the forehead.
We pretty much go deeper than most other routes and this time visit the tomb of Elise
because what better way than to go to the root of it all.  Just as Rose is about to
stab her heart, Tia appears and interrupts them. During it Ascot gains the form of
a horse with fairy wings, which is likely his true form. Tia keeps calling him Puuka
but he no longer listens to her commands.Rose did what she had to and collapsed
everything seems to have ended when she comes too, Ascot returns to his human form too.
Ascot says the queen now has no reason to remain here... the two get a heartwarming moment and
Rose shows her real appearance to Ascot they'll both make the most out of their new life together.
Riley came back and is devastated by the fact he slept for 8 years and her sister got
together with some guy he doesn't know. He doesn't actually like it at all that he came back
just in time for the wedding. Yea that right ASScot and Rose got hitched too.
Its been 500 years but ASScot's finally entering a serious relationship
he may still have some conflicting feelings but he'll enjoy every moment of it
and one day will say how much he truly loves Rose but I think we already know that.
From now on Ascot will live as a human to the fullest.
IDEK end: Tia finds out early Ascot is in love and decides to punish him first hand
after suspecting there's more going on. Tia says she has fulfilled what he wished...
Ascot seems to want to kiss Rose again... after he comes back to his senses
he realize Tia took his power from him his Puuka(the fairy horse).
Rose faces a dilemma because of Riley and Ascot's current state as he was forced to take
Riley's form but suddenly Rose has enough of this bullshit and says he is no longer Ascot
but her brother Riley. Rose completely goes back on what they told each other that night which
makes Ascot even more confused as Rose continues to treat him as if he were her brother Riley.
Ascot pretty much despairs when Rose looks at other men cuz no way in hell
is she going to get in bed with her own brother, so in some last act of desperation
Ascot tries to catch her attention by begging her to look at him and will do anything if needed.
Maze end: Rose decides to listen to John and take his warnings into consideration.
John is especially trying hard to convince Rose not to fall for Ascot's act to the point
Oberon has to step in which doesn't really help the situarion because what else can they do?
Anyway Ascot realizes his feelings seems to not reach rose anymore so he decides
to get off his ass and do something because Rose has offended him in several ways.
Thus Ascot decides to get between them by manipulating John...........
and then kidnapping Rose, Ascot said she dug her own grave.
To Rose it may seem like she is living the dream but... its far from reality.
John somehow got forced into this to try and protect Rose and keep her happy, I FUCKING CAN'T.
I AM UNABLE TO CAN OTOMATE WTF IS THIS SHIT?! EW.💀💀💀
Like lemme get this straight... no nvm I am not bothering with this fuckery i'm outta here.

Sigh... I disliked ASScot with a fiery passion but this route was a very entertaining
dumpster fire almost like Ruwo from Matsurika. ASScot is a character that is just difficult and
a piece of work! not only did he made me uncomfy, he seems like someone that you can't trust yet
tries to gain it. He also just seems to like messing with people but still his character is really
interesting and I still enjoyed the ride nonetheless well except the clown and triangle ends.💀
Oh well I thought the plot was pretty good as well except for the raging ex waving a knife
around parts, wtf once was okay but twice?! gimme a break. Wtf was that shit?
In terms of romance it was weird though, we know he loves her but at the same time
got to listen to him saying someday I will tell you how I really feel! uhm what...?
due that I don't think the wedding end was appropiate, anything else would have done it.
Oh well a good route in terms of plot but the love interest is very difficult to like even in the end
however after all is said and done I cannot hate Ascot anymore. No I lied I absolutely
despise ASScot after the triangle ending, I will take Alfred over this guy ISTG.
Route rating 7/10 (The revelations carried this route tbh, not his personality.)

Edward Bernstein.
CV: Tamura Atsushi.
He seemed friendly enough but his father is really strict, unfortunately
by the time I got to his route I was actually getting burnt on the game
and didn't have as much motivation for the poster boy and just wanted to get to John.
Ed got pickpocketed by some kid and let him keep the money because he wanted it........
he seems really nice to the poor kids in town other than that I don't remember anything
note-worthy happeningearlu in the route and just moseyed along. I guess there was
a cute scene where Rose ended up in a tree during chores and Ed decided to join her.
Ed did seem to notice she was worried over something but didn't press on it
and let Rose continue on to do her work like always. What a sweetheart eh?
Ed's family is also blessed with the wind element and he really likes the gentle breeze.
Edward seems to want to change the country for the better, as seen in Linus route
but ends up butting heads with his father Edmont over it. Edward really believes
they shouldn't let history repeat itself and work towards a better and brighter future.
The early route had a lot of down time and honestly I was pretty bored, like Edward
and Linus entertaining some kids with a wooden sword fight sure was on the fun side.
Rose somehow got hurt in the sparring match saving a kid which makes him remember
a little girl he met in the past as well as the motto noblesse oblige to help those in need.
Ed got all nostalgic but he suddenly feels a lot better because of it since he too saved someone.
The kid is a bit shaken up but otherwise doing fine. Later Edward gets into another argument
with his dad and I realized this what I am here for as Edward got slapped for being a naive brat.
Yes this route went from I sleep to I am mildly entertained by the affairs between father and son.
Afterwards Edward and Rose enjoy a quiet moment together while resting on the grass
he's not the type for grudges in fact he finds them difficult, Rose could learn from this man.
Ed's always trying to make his dad notice him by doing everything so perfectly but
his dad won't give him the affection he yearns for and now things are the way they are
constantly butting heads because Edward has different ideals than his old man.
Ed just tucks away all his sadness in a corner of his heart and silently suffers. He is glad
Rose is here with him though. Just laying like that there's a sense of happiness too.
Edward has all sorts of plans but they get rejected by the others and Lucas just doesn't care
so then he suddenly thinks hmm maybe I should try a charity or something.
One night Rose finds him in the garden and they talk about their parents, Ed's actually
looking or desiring some type of love that his life is missing. To lighten the mood
Edward wants to try doing a waltz while trying to fly with his wings. It sure looked fun!
I sorta forgot what the plot was about but Edmont seems like he thinks he's no longer needed
and may or may see something in Rose getting with Edward. John warns her to be careful.
Of course there are people out there that don't like the Bernstein family for what they did
and Edward is working hard to do something for the better, guess I'll say it now but pretty much midway through the route I figured Edward wasn't a bad character and I didn't give a rat's ass
what his family did because that is not the children's problem, especially if they
make such an effort like Edward. Yea Edward did nothing wrong!
Edward actually guesses Rose may not be who she says she is and he wants to know
if she too due her origin resents and/or blames him plus it being a reason to get close to him
because he is afterall a bernstein. Its complicated but for now there did not appear to
be much ill will between them, Edward is even willing to cover up her secret for now.
Just as that he let's her go because he has faith in her that she won't resent him.
They talk later and Edward seems really set on wanting to protect Rose and set her free
from her vengefulness. Because he is so persistant Rose eventually gives in
but only if he will accept all of her feelings on the matter. One of the conditions
were to meet the queen as well which happens quite early in this route, some rebels
tag along as well but the queen being who she is doesn't want Rose to get away. Edward
ends up backing her up and Oberon stands between them... who is about to take back his queen.
So Oberon did and now the only problem that really remains are the Bernstein's. There's something
about Rose being used as a sacrifice for something but I may have misremembered.
Rose eventually decides to meet with Edmont but wasn't able to do anything
then she starts wondering why she is even alive in the first place. Edward is right
there and encourages her to rest more, Rose decides to trust him in the best end.
Rose is still a bit weak and can barely eat, Edward explains to her his plans
and ultimately he will have to face his father because they won't see eye to eye.
Some other day Edward visits her again and ends up seeing her memories
because of that he really wants Rose to be able to let go of her quest for vengeance.
Ed gets so sweet that he wants to embrace her and accept it all even the bad memories
of 8 years ago so he can help her move on to a better future. He also confesses his feelings
but Rose stiill needs a bit of time as she is overwhelmed by her emotions.
Sometime later Rose leaves matters into Ed's hands but his father is up to no good
they found the hidden room in the palace and the other knights of the queen are holding him back
before he is able to do anything, Edward decides to settle things once and for all.
Rose comes along this time and as turns out Edmont merely wants to settle things
on his own terms and Nicolas is his one hell of a butler. Edward doesn't think his dad
is going the right way about this so they're once again butting heads!
Honestly the CG's are really great the art direction is top-notch.
Edmont seems to have no trouble taking responsibility for eight years ago... even if it was
by order of the queen he still takes responsibility for the result of thos actions.
He says if he truly wants to do what is right then his son should kill him
and so Edmont challenges Edward to a duel, this way is more fair.
No use targeting Rose because Edward will shield her if need be.
This all leads to Ed reliving the past through memories much like he did with Rose
its about Florence a girl who is in love with someone else and Edmont thought she would run off.
Then Nicolas came back bloodied and all... Florence overhearing what happened to the
Randolphes Edmont asks if she would stay now but of course ain't no way in hell she will
because they killed people she cared for like Riley and Rui. Florence curses them and runs off.
Edmont doesn't want her to look at him with resentment... in the present John tries to hold
Nico back while Edward is busy with his father. Nico casually drops he has been
doing some investigating and suspect John isn't his real name at all.
John sees his chance and aims for Edmont injuring Nico in the process...
Nico says something like sorry Olivier today I will be late.
Edward ends up killing his own father which he didn't want and his dad's last words
were that he should go forth walking on his own path. Aww.
There's another intrusive flashback showing Rui and Florence meeting Edmont
who says that he really did love the boundless skies or something like that.
Edward and Rose get an uguu moment as they find solace in eachothers embrace after the fighting.
In the epilogue John succeeds Nico's position as the new combat butler showing he was
succesful in toppling the old coot. I jest but yes it did seem that way he is now newly employed!
There is of course more work to be done but both Edward and Rose seem off to a good start.
IDEK end: Oh well Edward confronts his daddy and isn't afraid of him no more. UwU
There's not that much different from the best end scenario except the turn of events
things seem to end without killing this time, which should be good right?
there's still problems to overcome but it mostly seems Rose's revenge quest is over.
Rose starts to doubt whether Edward is doing this for her sake or his dad...
he then proceeds to propose to her because he'd like her to return with him.
There's a lot to consider but Rose is willing... but then one day just disappears
and continues being the same old Rose she now torments poor Edward.
Edward thinks John may know where she is so he tries to find her...
but it seems her plan is to go very faraway instead. WTF if I ever wanted to call
an otome game heroine a bitch then this was the moment. Rose is it.
Maze/NTR end: After the queen's passing they escape through a secret passage
and Edward says the country is going to change in big ways from now on.
John is worried about Rose and wants her to give up on her revenge quest.
When Rose spots Edward and Edmont on the street she wonders why they're together
and as per usual decides to rely on another person which in this case is Linus.
Linus actually followed her, he had an intiution of sorts... and then reintroduces
himself as the boy she knew as a kid Liam plus the fact he always liked her.
Because the queen is gone things are a little different but he has her side.
Meanwhile Edward cannot find Rose her as she has gone missing but he is on the case.
Eventually Linus and Ed meet and it is there Linus introduces Rose as his fiance.
Edward is absolutely flabbergasted by how this blindsided him and even I am like
wew lad the person you liked just got NTR! holy shit. Linus reasons that she is
the one person he ever had a crush on which unfortunately is true.
Edward can't accept this situation nor the love Linus bears for Rose... and me neither.
Linus also completely one-ups Edward its not even funny! btw he is welcome at the party btw.
Honestly I think this was a route you could expect in any otome game, for the most part
its more calmer than some of the other routes, its nice after Ascot actually.
Mistonia be like it is but it all suddenly felt like normal otome game for once.
I will say I expected Edward to be yandere or have some evil side but he was surprisingly tame
like the cover art may be straight-up false advertising, he is nothing like that!
I suppose it was suppose to illustrate a waltz with him but... and he has a playful side
but to me not much like that happened here. Edward's definitely not a character I can dislike
if we're talking about the best outcome, he's extremely likeable maybe a bit naive
which is why I absolutely hate the clown end. Like wtf that was almost a good end
but no the heroine decides to mess with the love interest who is head over heels for her WTF.
In both Clown and Maze end Rose just comes across to me as OOC but because
this game has a revenge theme they had to push it in some way amirite? poor Edward. 💀
Route rating 6.5/10
~

John.
CV: Shirai Yuusuke.
A friend and someone who supports Rose, they frequently meet up in a bookstore
trying to not be SUSpicious but OMG they so are. Sadly his route is locked
till you do like everything else and early on I already understood why and it is
unfortunate John was like the only character I was even remotely interested in.
I like how overprotective he is and its cute when he worries too much!
John isn't afraid to be a bad boy either and the route was off to a great start. /Whoosh.
Then while everything just goes as it usual would and Rose is doing her job
while they're all at some ball this motherfucker John shows up dressed for the occasion.
He sucessfully managed to get Ascot's attention and after its done he whispers did I pass?
Meanwhile some girls are starting to fangirl over John. When they get time later
John asks Rose to rely on him more but then Phillip bumps into them and thinks John
is like Rose's boyfriend! as if... just a misunderstanding as he's more like a brother of sorts.
Rose has to go because Lily is waiting so John asks her to contact him later.....
There was a flashback with Riley and little Rose which seems to hint that
she was alone a lot but Rose didn't seem to mind because John was also there.
John has always been supporting Rose since the incident eight years ago...
One night Rose didn't want him to go so they slept together, I was shocked this happened
so naturally no nothing else happened! well he did tell her to rely on him more.
They met up with Oberon and it was in this scene I realized John sorta looks like him?
Oberon still wants to get Tia back and maybe he's a little impatient... Rose and John
end up working together trying to make it happen. Which includes a training excercise.
John sensei's quite strict and his evaluation of Rose's attacks is quite harsh so she can do better.
John started speaking weird so Rose asked if he heard that and then suddenly ASScot
crawls from the bushes, when asked why he's there its for work.
Asscot finds them sus so John tries to work out a truce... ASScot then proceeds to troll
and says he may consider it if he and Rose can kiss. Instead Rose decides to respond
with her knife not like what ASScot would have liked so he wants to know what this means.
Obviously its two against one here, he's at a disadvantage so there shouldn't even be a choice!
Ascot backs off and the truce is a success... and takes his leave however he is
quite interested in John and what his relationship is with Rose.
John tries to explain his feelings which are quite conflicting of course he likes her
but he also wants to help her in any way he can. Ascot is like heh you think
quite highly of yourself for trying to do all that. John knows he has quite an ego
and that saying all that out loud isn't what he'd like others to hear.
So he says that if he's no longer of use then she can cast him aside.. NO JOHN BABY.
For some reason Rose reacted to his serious expression. Meanwhile Ascot claps
and compliments John's confession just now. Then Ascot finally leaves as he had his fill.
For some reason Rose is relieved which in turn makes John glad.
Aight! time for some angst.
Sometime later it comes to light that John is a puppet made by Oberon...
suddenly it made sense why he slightly resembles him and I wasn't imagining it.
Oberon never told him because it would be a pain and now Rose wants to know
what else he knew about eight years ago almost getting the wrong idea
or that he is hiding things which he wasn't doing not on purpose atleast.
Despite all that angsty-wangsty stuff John has her back and can't apologize enough.
When out in town he defended our mistress but the knife was poisoned... so he gets all sappy
about how he was able to protect her from harm and that it was him who took that hit.
Meanwhile Rose is like don't you die on me now John *aggressive shaking*.
Sometime later ASScot comes in to fan the flames as Rose and John were having a heart to heart.
He proposes she's kiss him so he will keep qeuiet about their meeting and John's
reaction to it just amuses him all the more so he's like heh worth it! so why
is a puppet of the fairy king acting like this to begin with? interesting but I could
just kill you in your weakened state so listen up. John tells her not to listen to Ascot.
Rose decides she has no choice this time so she will do it and kiss ASScot. She has to do it no
other choice, while John has to watch the person she loves kiss another man. John hates it so much
that he literally wants to kill Ascot now and made an attempt it was a hit but not very effective.
Ascot concludes that, John isn't Oberon himself and that they're such an interesting specimen
and that he'd love to continue his trolling before leaving. John and Rose now continue
their heart to heart in peace and Rose wants him to know that to her John is still John
no matter the fact he was created by the fairy king. It doesn't change anything nor does
it make him a puppet as he's shown he exists as an individual and not an extension.
John doesn't want her to give up on her revenge quest because of him though.
Rose for some reason doesn't seem to mind it and actually wants to stay with him
as well as wanting him to be free of his shackles to Oberon. John doesn't fully
believe he could be with Rose but he does want to do that especially after she tried
to make it clear to him that it could be possible if they tried. Then he goes on that
John would like Rose to smile again like on her 13th birthday when he made that cake.
Its such a precious memory to him and he'd like to see her smile again from the heart.
Just like just now when he wanted to kill Ascot, he has started to feel so many things for the first time.
Some good some bad, he can't name it all or he doesn't want to. He wants to say it on his own.
Tia found out about it though because ASScot is her favorite hound in this route
and John is taken away while Rose is left to figure out what to do now.
Rose ends up remembering a scene from the past and well John really was always there for her
and even if he knew that he could die he made her promise him not to die before him.
John was taken away and Rose is left with Oberon and she tries to convince him
to help out because they can't do it alone, he eventually gives in, lol.
Eventually they let Rose meet the queen... who interrogates him and she wants to know
if they know each other so Rose tries hard to keep face, its a lot of work but they let him go.
Turns out Ascot helped out too like who's side are you on??? John asks her if  she's fine
and she is which leads to a flashback saying this is like code for no I am not! So he reassures her
and then he says he likes her but not as a little sister. Rose responds in kind and says she likes him
too before he's being taken away again. The CG here was kinda awkward may as well not be here.
Before he goes John sounded really confident in wanting to make a future for himself.
Edward and Alfred seem to have Rose's back and support her in the mean time........
Linus is really the only one could stands in their way but Edward pursuades him, sasuga.
Mostly everyone seems to turn on the queen... even Linus. Tia doesn't seem to understand
why someone like Rose would go against her. Its really simple because Rose doesn't
belong to anyone nor does any person belong to someone else like they own them.
A person should be free to decide who they are and who they want to be with.
Tia doesn't accept Rose's answer so the fighting continues. Eventually Rose calls Oberon.
For some reason Oberon changes/returns something to Ascot so he's able to return
to where he came from which makes a lot of sense if you consider his situation.
Oberon then wants to release John as well... but he says that can only happen if he kills him.
John's apparently fine with fighting for it..... so they all try to beat up Oberon.
Ascot timely shoves a knife in Rose's hands which is that same knife she used
to take out Tia in other ends. Its poisonous to fairy's, John ends up being the one
to do it, ah yes the puppet has betrayed its master and the strings have been cut.
Tia still goes on about Elise and how she wants Rose to get closer...
incase you forgot Elise was like her ancestor and Rose is like a vessel for a replacement.
The queen really treasures this Elise and wants her back... anyway Rose tells Tia
to take Oberon and go back to tirnanog and to wait for her to come. It could take a year
maybe 10 or even 100 but to fairies that shouldn't be much of a difference. Tia for some reason
just agrees to it, grabs Oberon and leaves but she did wonder if Rose will fulfill her promise
and protect this country in the meantime since she does love everyone here especially the pure.
All's well that ends well and John says he can continue to protect her again like before.
He did mention that Rose lowkey told the queen a lie... but maybe it is for the better.
After that Ascot respectfully leaves to let them have their moment and Rose kisses John.
John is john.. just like Approise is who she is and they chose this ending. In the epilogue they
decide to move to another place and leave the rest of the problems to more than capable people.
Oh and for some reason sleeping in the same bed as lovers is embarrasing but  as a brother figure
it was apparently okay. LMAO. John's like wait no whatever we kissed anyway.
Goneril finds this hilarious how will these two ever manage to travel on their own?!😂
John's definitely been enjoying the various expressions Rose has been making too
and he's never been happier, he just hopes he never makes her upset too much.
Clown end: Honestly much like Edward there was not much difference
and they still end up fighting Oberon but Rose got some intrusive flashbacks
and then starts acting weird, Oberon suspects she took Tia's conciousness within her.
This happened because Tia was already weak and Rose did not resist.
Rose is now nothing but an empty shell of a vessel, a broken doll.
Oberon is like meh you can have her if you want John, its not my Tia and promptly leaves.
Edward suggests John to take her with him when he is about to leave to another country.
John's not taking all this too well and wants to rest up before he does anything.
Ascot comes in wondering where she is but Edward says they both left already
meanwhile John tries his hardest to make her remember anything
when they step into the ruins of the randolph residence she starts to mutter stuff.
John can only say he is right there trying to protect her as best he can
but she can't do much, so he cries that he doesn't want to be left alone.
Maze end: Be another i'm gonna go with this other guy over there which be ASScot of course.
He was more than willing to help her out when the fairy king was unwilling.
Rose is forced to tell Ascot everything from the contract with Oberon to maybe figure out how
to help puppet-kun. Then he reveals he too is under contract with him but that he doesn't trust him.
So now they go and make a deal with eachother... its like one of those scams tbh
because when he said won't you take my hand I already felt robbed.
Meanwhile John knows nothing about what just happened I feel so bad wtf man.
Ascot ends up showing her Riley's lookalike and she's like no way waaaaa.
John stares at the outside of the mansion lamenting the fact she stopped relying on him
so he reached out to Edward because he was worried something happened
which leads him to Ascot and how she could be at his townhouse.
When John finally finds her she stopped responding, John figures that Ascot
used his secret horse powers on her and demands he returns her to normal.
When he tried to talk to Rose she said she can't come with him because someone is here.
ASScot continues trolling saying that if their bond is so strong they'll surely make it work.
Next time he walks in on them ASScot is having a grand old time with Rose who
literally has no idea what is happening I AM SO MAD, REEEEE~~
John says he did use his powers on her and ASScot finally admits he did, this time
all because he thought it was fun but it turned out to be more trouble than its worth.
John knows he has to find a way to get them both out of here... but it isn't looking good.
If I was John then ASScot can run but he cannot hide, he is a dead man.😡😡😡
John had a decent route, after so long there had to be much needed focus on him.
I am not sure of Ascot, like I can't decide if he wants to be a wingman or if he is
trolling purely for his own amusement and/or he wanted to help them but saw no other way.
In the end Ascot will be Ascot... he does whatever he wants. >_>;
NGL John saying I can be a bad boy got to me in several ways but seeing him sad hurts me...
I think the writer knew what they were doing because damn. I didn't even want to do
his clown or maze ends but I was half curious to see how it would go to shit so I bit that bullet.
The clown end felt really random tbh... it was on the sad side. The maze end was
once again a disappointment and my day ruined. ISTG who came up with that shit?!

Truth end.
Because apparently there was more... some new? scene in the common route
where Rose runs into ASScot at night and he flirts with her... well after that
Maze end at John's route I was not in the mood for this asshat. Also yea
you have to sit through that god forsaken common route one more time to get to this.
God I wish they had just made this end a choice in the menu instead of... this useless 💩
we did like three times already, well four including this attempt.
Basically Oberon ends up telling the story of a witch who kept wanting things
so eventually she did not find it enough from simply getting things as gifts
so she did started a mean streak and did things in such a way that it didn't
matter if people suffered in the process as long as the witch got what she wanted.
Oh hey why does that sound familiar that's kinda what the MC does in the other endings.
Then it skips back to story after the common route ended, Rose and John save Leonard
and are still on their quest for revenge over what happened eight years ago.
Elsewhere Nico is seen taking out rats in an alley somewhere. Someone spotted him
which was definitely not Phillip. Nope it can't be him right. Bits of new info were
slowly revealed and most of it seems to be involving Nico and Phillip.
Edward found out about Rose's identity quite casually but he was nice about it
and had a civilized chat with her about it and the history of the Randolph's anyway
everyone seems to end up cooperating thanks to Edward so it turns into a harem end.
Its one of those truth ends that combines things from all routes so it makes more sense
and can give a satisfying outcome, I always thought it was weird how Ascot was the only route
who even went into the changeling stuff and dropped bombs about Riley being alive.
Lily seems strangely important all of a sudden and Rose was reminded of something she
said and how similar they could be like reading the same book etc but then while
they had a rather pleasant conversation, Lily realizes they're not the same.
They were talking about some girl named Mary which almost seems to be relevant to
the witch in the story Oberon was narrating. They both had different opinions on it
and the conversation didn't end in a good way but Phillip said well you'll make up again surely. LOL
They managed to get Ascot on their side and they convinced Oberon too somehow
due to his ties to John. Rose was able to meet her brother again as well.
Rose has pretty much given up on her quest for vengeance and prioritized her brother over all else.
Riley was worried about her and found it wrong she had been fighting for so long
but that doesn't have to continue as her future could be different.
The more I look at it the more this CG hurts me on numerous levels, its herpaderp.
Oh yea apparently Lily decides to confront the queen which leads to a flashback
of her meeting Oberon in the past and she thinks he's Lily's prince??????? Turns out she too
was involved with the incident and had some influence in what happened eight years ago.
Turns out Lily plans to catch Tia off-guard to which she succeeds and she ripped off her wing...
the others just arrived as she did this and Oberon is like wtf u doing?!
then Lily gets fairy powers and then starts proclaiming her love for Oberon
like now he finally notices me like she is some crazy stalker. Phillip ends up
being Lily's knight and John will deal with that while he leaves Rose to deal with Lily.
Heh I guess what Oberon was talking about in the beginning was Lily... she is the witch
that tries to get what she wants and doesn't care if people get hurt in the process.
Rose ends up using Oberon as a decoy to try and get through to her.
Goneril randomly jumps in like and starts shouting shit that this is for her brother! and then stabs Lily.
She just starts crying like why are you alive, gimme back my brother!
Rose tries to talk her out of it because she knows revenge isn't gonna help bring them back.
She then gets a flashback her predecessor that made some promise with Tia
before she went to slumber, Tia herself really loves humans & Pures.
This however seems more in line with what we did learn in previous routes.
Goneril reveals she used that special knife that's poisonous to fairies on Lily
so she is very weakened now. Oberon despairs because he got so close to getting Tia back.
Anyway mostly everything else resolves now but there's still work to be done
now that the queen's gone. Ascot muses the one most suited to become queen right now
is Rose due to her heritage and I'm like yea sure let's go do that YASSS QUEEN!
I hate to admit it but despite my enthusiasm just now I didn't enjoy much of it, like sure
it a happy harem end but something just felt off idk why.
Idk what to think of the truth route, it had too much of an oh is that so? feeling
like Lily was so completely irrelevant throughout the game why is she important now?
or Phillip like I can't even ship them because they barely had any scenes
and the game seemed to suggest they or one of them hat a thing for the other.
Also don't get me started on Goneril she came out of left field here like oh okay.
I don't remember there being any major hints outside of this truth route and even if there was
I probably forgot. If they wanted me to believe Lily or Goneril was more involved then
they should have properly showed it but they were too busy with the fairy queen herself or the characters individual problems in their respective routes so there was very little time for that.
You know what this looks like? it feels like they hired a completely different writer
and asked them to make something of it with everything they had already or this was
the original intention and they just... had routes for everyone because its an otome game.
I am still wondering where Lily's oberon obsession came from, it would have been better
to hint at that in Edward or John's route because of John being a puppet and all
but I am afraid I can't recall Lily ever being odd in other routes that i'd raise eyebrows.
Like I said it all felt so random? you just go oh... or maybe during Ed's route the reason for Edmont's behavior was Lily, this I could believe. None of it ever felt relevant elsewhere though.
TBH I think the story in this route is fine for this route alone or am I just trying to be nice?

Fav route:
Lucas > Linus/John > Edward > Ascot > Alfred >Truth.
The truth route was honestly so random it may as well have not been there like lmao there
was not a lot outside of it that foreshadowed a certain character's involvement, it also spend
half its time trying to get the true end effect by using bits from everyones route. Zzz.
The individual routes themselves were pretty decent compared to it.

Fav character
John / Lucas > Linus > Edward > Alfred >Rose > ASScot.
John I have a soft spot for but actually its Lucas who I adore, Linus is great too.
M'boy Edward be just mid, he good but mid. /pet. Alfred? no commento.
Both Rose and Ascot can also share that spot TBH but that is mostly because of the bad ends.
Rose is still a good heroine don't get me wrong! I just like most guys over her.

Final Thoughts?
Literally me during any end that wasn't the best.
I think the game was mostly enjoyable had I stayed away from the Clown&Maze endings.....
i'm also disappointed with the truth end because lmao what was that? seriously
I don't even remember those two side characters being relevant they never had any moments
in the character routes either other than support, barely any that I remember anyway because
those were too focused on the LI themselves and them being not relevant to the situation
so at most I just went oh okay during the truth end so that how it is.
I mostly expected an otome game with a cool maid protagonist and I partially got that but I guess
you shouldn't judge a game by its cover(regular in this case) as most of the common route was
basically watching a tumbleweed fly by and being forced some cotton candy into your hands.
Edward was also nothing like he was depicted on the cover, dude barely did anything wrong.
The guide I used also had me use a common save for the first three routes and by route 3 I barely
even remembered the common route. What saved most of the experience was the character
interactions & plot intrigue, common just doesn't hold up to the second half of the game.
Thankfully the common route isn't that long but it can feel like a chore, just like housework.😅
Mistonia can be surprisingly dark in tone if need be but it can also be as light as a feather.
Romance isn't really its initial focus, everyone is far too busy for that. Rose included
but some routes are just better at implementing it yet in others its just very subtle.
When it got to the point romance mattered some of the progression felt natural, I actually
really liked it in Lucas's route and I didn't like him at first so that gotta say something.
Its just that... the romance can be ruined due the clown/maze ends existence like it is
all good when you go for the best end but god the other two ends are total landmines.
The heroine had a tragic past and I think she is pretty headstrong to go through all this
but she didn't have much of a personality especially early on because she hid it but at times
she shined in interactions with various LI especially Lucas. She's a bit too serious
for my tastes but she will speak her mind and be made to eat her own words, lmao.
I did find Rose to be quite distasteful in some of the endings that wasn't the best end...
I get this game has a revenge theme but some of the guys didn't even deserve that BS.
Petty revenge over something minor is not my thing... Edward's clown end made me feel sick.

ALSO wtf is this games obsession with NTR in certain endings I think the one turning
into a 3P may've been amusing but WHY?! more often than not straightup made me uncomfy.😨
However some bad ends were really good at foreshadowing certain story aspects
namely Alfred's Maze end. So the writers get kudo's from me for it like sometimes
the scenario would peak but more often than not it couldn't keep the highs.
I think Lucas's route was peak but maybe that was cuz I had nothing to compare it too
and there's hardly anything that was more interesting except Ascot's route but as a LI he's ass.
I mean they executed the story beats well most of the time but it all can feel repetitive.
Moving on I didn't like the map selection part either because it gives you the illusion of free choice
only for literally being able to just watch scenes the cursor was initially on. /facepalm.
Also we have to sit through that crap four times at the minimum the majority should be skippable.
Anyway Mistonia had a rough start for me but it wasn't that bad of an otome game
if I only did the best ends, the rest was just too much for me.
I remember generally liking Matsurika but I think Mistonia isn't much better or worse
but compared to stuff like akuyaku reijou it actually is a solid package.
6/10
TBH I liked some of the individual routes more than the truth end, the game did take
a while to grow on me and at first I wasn't feeling it but then Lucas happened. XD
Nothing seemed to drag on too long and with the exception of one route none bored me
that much but I will say that around Edward&John's route I was about done with it all
so when I found out there was still a truth end I was like lmao what now?!
Hope that makes sense, honestly I am just a bit mixed on this game overall.

What's next? probably Visions of Mana but the demo didn't feel great
so I may just pick out something from my backlog instead and save it for later.
I actually ended up clearing out my VN wishlist from VN I am likely to never
going to play but Dorico no Toshokan will forever be there unless they say something.😂
Backlog won't exist if you don't have one after all!

27-8-24 edit: fixed fav route order, lucas and john were reversed idk why I didn't notice.
Also I dropped my score by one point because I only really liked one route anyway, said route
would be an 8/10 but game as a whole, not really it doesn't compare at all.
