Unlogical - Demo Impressions

 Genre: VN.
Developer/publisher: Licobits.
Platform: Switch.
Official Site: https://licobits-game.com/unlogical/
Release date: 22-01-2026

So I tried out the demo version of the upcoming otome game Un:logical.
Its Licobits second otome game and like with their first its also being made
by a bunch of old otomate staff. I don't do reviews of demo's
so this is just a first impression post.

TBH most of my ramblings are about the admin guy and I think he's really
carrying this otome game right now thanks to his seiyuu. Atleast for me.

At time of writing this otome game is japanese only with no english text.
You can download it on the japanese eshop if you're curious enough or to see
if your fav seiyuu can reel you in but the demo is not very long, 2 hours at most.

More rambles after the jump.
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The art was pretty good; both sprites and backgrounds and the UI was clean.
The artist is the same as collar x malice and amnesia, Hanamura Mai.
I didn't have any problems with the font like with UtaChro Trail. So that was nice.
Music was decent, great OP,  BGM's were good jams which fit the setting.

System-wise there was nothing unusual just standard VN stuff.

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did seem she wanted nothing to do with this but... anyway!
Story wise I thought it has a fairly interesting setup but its too early to really
say anything as what is covered in the demo is just the introduction.
---
For me it got kinda funny when I heard some of the seiyuu's.
Miyabi the red haired guy; is the admin of the VR game who's voiced by
Ootsuka Takeo who also voiced Sunday from Star Rail.
He's not beating the Sunday allegations... atleast not mine.
I know what he did💀 and with Miyabi being an admin I was already on edge.
Of course these two are different characters but why am I nervous?
I first heard Ootsuka Takeo in Angelique Luminarise but he was very new back then.
Apparently he was Joshua in FFXVI too which was alright but not yet on my radar, his role
as Sunday really put him out there for me and he was Rin in Neon Clash as well.
I guess I am a fan now...😅
There's Giovanni in infiinity nikki as well but they like to keep him in the basement so I keep forgetting.
 ---

The heroine Suzuno Kanna is proactive, has a life and even dated some guy
named Kai who for reasons unknown told her to forget about him.💀
I don't really remember playing many otome games where that was a thing
so that was refreshing. Ran is a close friend or he seemed that way to me.
I generally liked the interactions he had with Suzuno.😊
No clicking any SUS links now...
In terms of other characters there's Yuri who seems friendly enough and he's voiced
by Nobunaga Shimazaki... he sounded more genki than Riku so it didn't feel similar.
There's Soichi but he sounded almost the same as Yosuga to me.😅
I can't say much about him since he appeared the least, need to see more of him.
If I don't know who to choose on my first play when I do get this game
I'd probably choose Yuri... unless his route is locked but i'd sooner
suspect Ran or Miyabi's routes being locked.

There was also some angel AI NPC voiced by Kaji Yuuki who explained a lot
to Suzuno, not sure if he has a route but idk if I want one at this moment in time.
Most of the other angel AI NPC's were voiced by high profile seiyuu's such as
Shimono Hiro or Tachibana Shinnosuke but they all appear to be side characters.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You could say its... unlogical?
Overall; Well it was certainly interesting but with the 2ish hour demo
it felt more like it was a vibe check than anything else.
I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover but I suspect there to be
some landmines and if there aren't any that would be disappointing.

It did make me remember period cube (and SAO)... the title screen also reminded me
of that Undertale game but I only ever looked into it, never played that.
I probably sound crazy for comparing it to Star Rail a little but
considering who voices Miyabi I think its a bit cursed?💀💀💀
I-i-i mean they both have halo's behind their heads.😨
Anyway... the character dynamics were also good as was the premise!
there is a little bit of mystery/intrigue surrounding the VR game.
Most of the demo had slice of life and it was generally slow-paced
so the story feels like it has only just begun. Some of the technobabbles
did fly over my head but they always do. Sorry Kohaku.😔

I kinda want to see where its going to go from here... so I guess they did hook me
and at this point its either get it on release or wait and pick it up when/if it gets localized.
If I do buy it day 1 its likely for Miyabi (and his seiyuu) but looking at the cover
I am kinda afraid of him? which is likely where my bad feeling is coming from.
That said while Miyabi's motivations are questionable? he doesn't seem like a bad guy.
Or maybe I am naive........
That means I can just call him Sunday right...?
TL;DR Un:logical seems like it could be a solid otome game
but not much stood out to me except the admin character+seiyuu combo.
I suppose Ran and Kai mildly interested me so if I do end up getting this
its not solely for Miyabi. (Wait this is enough reason to buy isn't it?)
It doesn't seem like it will have much politics and at the point
the demo ended, things seemed to have picked up. To me this seems
like a plot driven game with some romance mixed in and a little mystery.

I think there's a good chance aksys games will pick this up for localization
but if not the japanese seems to be a little easier than utachro so if you got a good grasp
of the language & you like the seiyuus it can be fun to test your japanese on.
