Yakuza 6 the song of life - review

Time for the final episode of the Kiryu saga! but who was baby?
Genre: Brawler/adventure
Developer/publisher: Sega.
Platform: PS4.
Official Site: N/A.
Release date: 17-4-2018.

I actually hadn't intended to play this game so soon but because
Cafe Enchante was such a slow game I was itching for some action!
knowing that Y6 wasn't nearly as long as its predecessor also helped.

The game takes place after Yakuza 5 and we're also back to just having Kiryu as the protagonist!
honestly the real reason for going into this within 2 months of finishing Y5 was more or less
me wanting to move on and see Kiryu's tale to its conclusion while I still had investment.

Pro's
- Decent and well-paced story that doesn't overstay its welcome.
- Great cast of characters lot's of fun interactions during the main story.
- Both main and substories are voiced fully.

Con's
- Combat felt weird, no heat actions for downed enemies? Meh.
- Too many substories are locked behind this or that. Also no substory finder.
- There was not nearly enough Majima.

Story wise it had me hooked from the start, I was surprised by how much directly
followed up on five, the opening scene was a bit random though like who was baby?
but record scratch *Freeze frame* how did we get into this situation happened.
The pacing was pretty good this time, I had an easier time following the plot and
each chapter felt like I learned a new piece of the puzzle which felt really good.
It pretty much felt like a proper crime drama that followed up on Y5's crappy ending.😅
I know RGG studios just sort of keeps writing but they really do manage to build something
from what they already have, they've proven that multiple times through this series.

Forgot the jump break so uh I generally enjoyed this game, more rambles after the jump!

Final Fantasy VII remake intermission - review

 Genre: RPG.
Developer/publisher: Square Enix.
Platform: PS4/5/PC.
Official Site: N/A
Release date: 10-6-2021.

I ended up buying the twin pack deluxe edition with FF7 remake 2 on ps5 by accident because
there are too many versions. While I played the original remake on ps4 I never played intergrade
aka the PS5 version that has this intermission. So while waiting for remake part 2/rebirth
I ended up playing the Yuffie DLC! this review is pretty short because well this DLC
was short so there's not much to talk/write about but I still wanted to anyway.

Pro's
- Fun side content.
- Decent enough plot that doesn't overstay its welcome.

Con's
- Short, feels like there's a missing gap between chapter 1 and 2.
- DLC was about Sonon+DoC references and not about Yuffie.
- Can skip this DLC and miss absolutely nothing.

More rambles after the jump. I suppose there be spoilers cuz I rambled about Sonon.

Shuuen no Virche Epic Lycoris - Review

Genre: Visual Novel.
Developer/publisher: Otomate.
Platform: Switch.
Official Site: https://www.otomate.jp/virche/fd/
VNDB: https://vndb.org/v38067
Release date: 07-09-2023.

Only reason I even got this FD was cuz I wanted more romance with Ceres and the guys
since... the original game was lacking a lot in that area. As well as not giving one major
character a route which was a great injustice which this game seems to want to remedy?

OP movie URL cuz they apparently disabled embedding...

Pro's.
- Side stories are nice.
- Nice after stories for Yvess, Scien and Adolph.
- Great for Ankou fans.

Con's
- A giant 🖕 to Lukas fans.💀
- Some CG's are nice but they're spread across too many different scenarios... afters feel barren
some also have awkward angles or weird face shots and I am like what is this?!
- Some afters just plainly lack any fluff or fun content.
- With the exception of Ankou's route everything was pretty short.
---

There's side stories with all the main characters and then there's the usual after stories
as well as a new side end that takes a spin on the original route from the first game.
There's also a route for Ankou, however you can't do it till you complete the Drifter story.

Also it seems they took encore literally and it is not going the be the fun kind and more in line
of what the original game was like. Lukas's left me traumatized and I cannot handle it
so I skipped the other encores. What is even worse is the encores are like 3/4ish hours
with the same experience while the emotion/after stories are like like 1/2 hours at best.
I was quite disappointed with atleast 2 of the afters as well. Ankou's route is by
far the longest and i'm pretty sure it was 8-10 hours in length... hoo boy!

The writers apparently said no, you can't have nice things and some characters apparently haven't suffered enough, so here's more despair, Ankou included. Yea I know virche wasn't exactly
a normal otome game but come on, I thought this was a FD but it didn't seem like one, even less
than raditale's. Also while some cg's were beautiful they sometimes had awkward angles
and really nice moments between the characters were hard to find especially in the afters.
So I found it hard to find anything memorable in the after stories, the only ones
I even remotely liked was Scien Brofist's cuz hurrdurr and Adolph.
For Ankou's route they had a nice prequel story called Drifter which unlocked Ankou
and the route was pretty enjoyable albeit very long, this but this game is
pretty much for him alone and everything else is there as a bonus. 😂
Now for the thing I am most disappointed about, it is the severe lack of fluff and/or fun
content in the afters... cuz unless you're Adolphe,Scien or Ankou they had to give that to us
via a side story and its just sad they couldn't do better for the actual afters.

I don't know if I should recommend this game unless you're a big Ankou fan
and are OK with some of the other guys not really getting much else but a few crumbs!
I'm sorry I really tried to like things in this game but I could barely find it...
most of the time I was just bored, missing even the interactions with Jinnia and Liyan.
All the fun stuff were put into side story -interlude- as well...
I guess that not everything has to be truly happy but I just found most of the afters lacking
if only they didn't bother with encore and focused more on the afters cuz it really
feels like they divided their attention too much leaving some other areas to be desired.

Idk what score to even give this FD on one hand an 8/10 just for Ankou seems a bit much
but a 5/10 or lower could make this seem like a kusoge... so I guess a 6.5 or 7/10???
cuz hey atleast half the guys had a nice after story! as wells as Ankou being a great addition.

My play order was: Lukas > Mathis > Science Brofist > Yvess > Adolphe >Drifter > Ankou.
The only good thing about this play order for the FD is that the afters will gradually get better.

Spoilers after the jump as I will be writing about the character/routes etc!
so you've been warned!!! if you don't want spoilers then don't proceed further!!!

**Ended up fixing some mistakes or adding some stuff but this post won't be edited anymore
and ain't no way I am touching encore more than I already did.

Bustafellows - Review

Genre: VN.
Developer/publisher: Extend.
Platform: PC/Switch.
Official Site:https://pqube.co.uk/bustafellows/(ENG)
VNDB: https://vndb.org/v25197
Release date: 2021-07-30.

Bustafellows is an otome game that shares its setting with sidekicks! which I remember
as being alright sadly that game is PS Vita only and as of now hasn't been brought over or ported.
Good thing is you don't need to play that game to enjoy Bustafellows!
I am playing the ENG version as I bought it together with CupiPara but this has just been
backlogged till now. Due to the developers not wishing spoilers to be spread on the internet
which I am sure is only about livetweeting and preventing it being up on youtube/twitch in full
and TBH they have that right so I will be doing my best to try respecting that.

Pro's
- Interesting story, very easy to get hooked! great cast of chara's.
- Voiced heroine!
- Gorgeous artwork, outstanding visual scene direction.
- BGM fits the scenes/mood.

Con's
- At times there would be vocal lines but no text displayed, especially in movies.
- Some grammatical errors, text breaking out of the box.
- Not being able to save during non-timed choices.

The protagonist Teuta is a journalist who can for a short period of time
leap into the past of someone else. The story takes place in new sieg
and she tries to save a lawyer named Limbo.
Regarding the time-leap thing, I think it was well done and reminded me of harukanaru 3.
I liked how they actually went into some cause&effect & is it right to just go and  change things
at some point and it didn't turn into some gag or question chara's intelligence like in kuro no kiseki 2.
So imho Bustafellows did the time leaping thing right! it also doesn't happen too much either
so I think it sits on the fine line of yea its some kind of cheat ability but its not overused
which is why it was ten-times more bearable to me than in kuro 2.
As a heroine though, Teuta was a real treat! its rare to have such a proactive protagonist
that is already an adult but not quite have had a chance of romance untill now.
I think out of the older heroines she was surprisingly real so it was easy to relate to her!
Teuta didn't feel like she was immature or anything to me. She was well-written.
The only thing that is hilarious about her is the lack of cooking skills.......
I did like how Teuta had a sprite that showed her from the guys POV at times!
its even better than just a small icon next to the text, really makes her feel part of the story.

From the start I found it easy to get hooked and unable to put down the game!
the scenes were interesting and the pacing was pretty good and that was just chapter 1.
I think they had a very solid foundation here that you'd definitely be interested
to see what would happen next and honestly you probably don't want any spoilers either
with these type of games so like psychedelica its best to stay spoiler free and enjoy on your own!

I think my favourite character would be Crow, Limbo is okay and definitely husbando material
but Helvetica and Mozu kind of rubbed me the wrong way so i'd definitely had to
wait for their routes to get a better picture of their character(s) and well Shu.. uh maybe not?
To my surprise I ended up liking Shu a lot more than my initial impression as well as Mozu
its just Helvetica that ended up being my least liked! ah some things aren't meant to be.

The characters all had nice chemistry with each other but romance was not really
the focus not at first atleast. Without the epilogues I definitly it was lacking.
The length was alright, its neither too short nor too long for me to get bored!
The system was pretty standard, text skipping is slow but there's a skip to the next choice option!
only problem is not being able to save during choices, like I'd understand during the few
timed ones but there were more non-timed choices where you should be able to save but can't.

Now for some of my dislikes...  I will be honest, for the majority of the common route this didn't
really feel much like an otome game but more like a crime drama with handsome guys.
At the very least it was interesting and I felt motivated to continue! The other thing
was how this game seems to have an obsession with the back of characters heads like
I'd prefer the face and see no reason to show the back of their heads. At first I thought
its part of some aesthetic and in some scenes I understood why they did it but there were
moments I was like idk why're they showing their back??? weird.
The UI while looking neat at a glance, was kind of clunky like i said above
you couldn't save during choices. Also I didn't understand why the epilogue just didn't
play normally I almost restarted the route and skipped out on some juicy epilogue romance.
Font was nice but I didn't understand why the text errors in Mozu and Crow's route hadn't
been fixed yet, sure human errors happen but a line breaking from text? that's pretty major
especially considering this game already had a patch. The localization is still pretty great
but even after patches, there were a few misses and I think the final scene
in the game lacking subtitles is definitely a huge miss.
Let's not talk about the Fondue is a dessert incident... (its not, its a main-dish)

Still don't get me wrong with these few gripes I still think this was an excellent visual novel
and even if you don't usually play otome games I would still recommend it!
Granted I think this type of otome may still not be for everyone and it will depend
what you're in the mood for, this game wasn't exactly light-hearted as some routes especially
those recommended for later but I think the game as a whole, the themes do kind of lean on
the dark/heavy side and are definitely not seen in the run-of-the-mill otome game.
So if you don't mind that and want a mystery otome game/VN with a decent plot, fun
characters and good production values go for it!
 8.5/10

Since this is a mystery type otome game I will be following the recommended
play order of Limbo > Shu > Helvetica > Mozu > Scarecrow > True.
Even if all are self-contained and you can do whatever, this order does make
the most sense so I will recommend the same order of play.

There will be route babbles after the jump! there won't be any spoilers due to the developers wishes
and its just a small blurb of whether I liked their route or not without context.
The CG's shared in this post are also sample CG's from the official japanese/english websites.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Limbo.
CV: KENN.
Ah Limbo, honestly I found him to be very likeable, perhaps the easiest to come to like out of
the whole gang. The story in his route suited his position as a lawyer and there were some
nice twist and turns. Romance wise it was okay, the epilogue was a nice way to wrap it up too!
without the epilogue I would definitely be found wanting cuz the romance in the route itself
which was barely enough. Oh well it was still pretty good for being the poster boi!
I didn't find him particularly evil as he still has morals but I guess
he does fall into the if evil why sexy category.😅
Ido wonder why Limbo had like the most bad ends while the others all had like one...
~

Shu.
CV: Hosoya Yoshimasa.
AT FIRST I wasn't really that interested in doing Shu's route but it was interesting to say the least!
maybe a little bit more mature? hmm idk romance wise there were some cute moments throughout.
Anyway I ended up liking the story AND the romance more than the one I did prior!
for some reason this route did feel a bit short but maybe that is because I no longer have to
sit through the whole common route which leads me to see how short the routes really are.
In so far I do think the pacing has been pretty good and honestly I had a hard time
putting the game down so it wasn't boring at all! How did I went from being
meh about Shu to oh no! he's cute?! I dig it. Nobody knows except my kokoro.
~

Helvetica.
CV: Yoshino Hiroyuki.
Another guy I didn't exactly like, in fact most of the time he made me feel uncomfortable.
Helvetica is a plastic surgeon and a bit flirty, the part that is unlikable for me is
that despite being able to put himself in others shoes often just comes across as rude.
So I was atleast hoping the route would make me understand him better... and it did
its just that romance wise it wasn't my thing! like it was amusing to watch but I just
didn't like the constant teasing which just turned Teuta into a tsunderella.
I didn't mind Helvetica's teasing at times but I think they went overboard... which just turned me off.
I think the only thing which was great for me was his backstory and I can sympatize with him
cuz before this route I just wanted to spit fire at him and now i'm like oh no baby~
its just that despite i'm able to care, its not like Helvetica is my worst boy or anything? hmph!
The romance only really became bearable for me in the epilogue... its better late than never!
Idk if this even makes sense but I am just not really feeling the romance
in this game but I do enjoy seeing Teuta end up with them.
~

Mozu.
CV: Jun Fukuyama.
A coroner, he is pretty logical/theoretical... at times Mozu did really make me laugh
cuz his most of the jokes are unintended but I think Mozu knew at times what he was saying
its just that other people may be like uhm at his sense of humor. Mozu is oddly relatable.
Romance wise there wasn't much time for any and his route is pretty heavy from the get-go
buuuuuuut there was definitely chemistry between Mozu and Teuta so it was still nice to see
them grow closer! it did feel more slowburn compared to some of the others
but in the end I thought that the romance was a little lacking, yea its there but not by much!
The epilogue also had a reveal which literally made me go like oh my god?! why now...
at the very least it ended alright but it pretty much ruined the mood which is sad
and let me tell you, this route was already heavy, romance wise it was thin and stretched
which may have been appropiate? but idk I sure wanted some more time
with Mozu since the epilogue was just barely enough.
~

Scarecrow.
CV: Shirai Yuusuke.
The boss of the underworld... who also just happens to be a complete clown
and is shy as a button. Crow was always fun to see tbh even when it not his route.
Overall Crow's route was interesting even if it started like are you guys seriously
going to do that? in terms of  story/romance it felt satisfying more so than other routes.
If I had to be super honest, despite me enjoying it, it did feel a bit all over the place...
also I was led to believe this route was heavy but idk that wasn't the case it actually felt
quite light in comparison to some of the stuff in Helvetica or Mozu.
The epilogue was icing on the cake and perfect way to finish it...
I do have some questions but eh if there was never a sequel or a FD i'd be satisfied with this one.

True end.
Well this was it, if you had any remaining questions about stuff this answers it all!
It was pretty fast paced and intense, saying anything else will ruin the suspense
so i'll just say it was a good way to wrap up the game.
There are also various side stories that add some more depth to side characters
or a little reference to sidekicks! as well as a another mini route which
are all a treat if you can't get enough of bustafellows.
TBH this route felt like being held at gunpoint while the reveals keep coming
with little time to actually process all that by the end I  was literally like ...MAN.
Also there was something that bothered me which has nothing to do with said plot, its
this game claiming fondue is a dessert??? i'm pretty sure fondue is a main-dish not a dessert.
A quick google search confirmed as much but yea that combined with a few remaining
errors basically sealed the deal and I wish this game had a little bit more care put into it.
I really dislike the final scene in the game doesn't even have subtitles... which just removed
any context from the last moments cuz I couldn't translate what was being said fast enough.
Oh I guess Teuta's powers were never really explained but I figured just like the heroine
from sidekicks! is that she is more or less just born with it and that's it.
~

Fav route:
Crow > Shu > Limbo > Mozu > Helvetica.

Fav character:
Crow > Mozu > Limbo > Shu > Helvetica.

Final thoughts!
Couldn't find a better picture of that artwork so have the limited edition cover instead!
Honestly I thought Bustafellows was a pretty good otome game!
Teuta was amazing and she had spunk, was pro-active and voiced,  she is easily
among my list of favorite otome game heroines. Most of the guys were likeable
and if they weren't their routes sealed the deal, like for example in the case of Shu. I love
seeing the cast interact with each other too!  I also like the difference in swimsuits or the name
of the cat being different everytime, it all felt like flag checker to signal you are on this guy's route!
This game also had some pretty high production values and the cg's were all great.
Music was on point too and fit the mood/vibes. Story was interesting and I had
a hard time putting the game down at times. The only bad part is that the personal routes
are all self-contained to the guys own issues which lead to some plot threads being put
on-hold and forgotten till the truth route but eh plenty of otome games do this too
so this did not surprise me at all at this point. The localization was fine, font was easy to read
but there were some errors especially in Mozu's route and Crow had text breaking out
or the fondue incident like seriously that's a main-course not a dessert.
This game has been out for a year and i'm surprised they didn't even fix that...
I get that its an oversight but this is stuff you'd expect from aksys
no amount of no spoilers past ch1 is going to save you from hiding this!
The final scene in the game has no subtitles... which IMO is a huge oversight.
Other gripes would be the not being able to save during a choice, there weren't
enough timed choices that would make it valid not to be able to save during normal choices.
The obsessions with the back of the heads was lame, sure it made sense in some scenes
but there were plenty I was like why am I looking at the back of Teuta's head?????
I guess its more of a you are there as a reader or aesthetic kind of thing huh.
Finally I disliked how the capablanca stuff was copy&pasted in all of the routes, the plot thread
was never mentioned again there anyway, being forced to sit through it every route was tiresome.
8.5/10
Anyway gripes aside Bustafellows gets my recommendation if you're up for a mystery themed
otome game with a voiced heroine and don't mind it having some heavy topics
while it also not disrespects your time in terms of what it has to offer.
Sadly not all routes felt as well rounded and the heavy stuff outweighed it all
like the case with Mozu, but that's just my opinion. Here's to the sequel!

Next game? idk yet but i'm not feeling otomates upcoming tsuitsui like don't get me wrong
but it feels generic as hell, from the plot outline to the CG's! which remind me of some PS2 era otome game. I hope to be proven wrong and that game actually turns out alright but hmm... not a good look.

Shuuen no Virche ~Error Salvation~ - review

 Genre: Otome/simulation VN.
Developer/publisher: Otomate
Platform: Switch.
Official Site: https://www.otomate.jp/virche/
VNDB: https://vndb.org/v29661
Release date: 2021-10-07

Since there's not much choice in terms of otome games coming out
and Virche seems like it will be interesting I decided to get it
to have something to play/read while waiting for other games to come out.
I tried going in with relatively low expectations because that's what works best
if anything I think this games synopsis reminded me a little of tierblade.
Things I already knew its gonna be a dark fantasy with sci-fi elements
not to mention the art style gives off this edgy vibe! but that's all.
Like with Kimiyuki Seiyuu cast is a mix of familiar talent and new that I have not heard
before it seems this is becoming a trend and a welcome one at that.

Pro's
- Good worldbuilding and well written story & cast.
 - Gorgerous art and music to fit the mood.

Con's
- Not for the faint of heart/don't like depressing or high amount of blood.
-  What is a good ending is subjective but real happy ones are hard to find in this game.
- WHO TF HURT THE WRITERS OF THIS GAME MAN...

Opening movie was pretty good, it set the mood of the game pretty well.

This game honestly started out pretty depressing, death really does seem to follow
the heroine Ceres no matter where she goes. Honestly I felt bad for her. :(
Ceres constantly blames herself for everything bad happening because of her curse...
this could get annoying but I had faith the writers would develop this and help her overcome it
and the main cast was pretty nice and supporting towards the heroine so all was well.
She meets Ankou who... honestly I was wary of his words cuz they were extremely honeyed
but if I was in Ceres's position I would probably trust him too but  still be ware.
Though if depressing themes and suicide triggers you I suppose to stay clear of this game.
Prologue/common route progression was good to get to know the cast and setting but there
is a bit of techno babbles from a certain character that did go into one ear and out the other.😂
To put simply there's elements of cloning and memory transfer to survive the death at 23 thing.
Most of the characters are interesting, Lukas whom's route is available to do right
from the start was an easy character to like. Anyway it wasn't dark/dreary and depressing all the time
but there was a decent amount of suspense unfortunately there's not much time for fluff or
funny scenes doesn't mean there was none it just wasn't the focus.
I have no strong opinion on Lukas but it has that one meme which made me howl for a good minute
or so. I did enjoy Mathis route in particular it was pretty peak fiction but Scien was just
well nothing against the guy but it honestly left me the most depressed.
Yvess was the poster boy but atleast his route wasn't that disappointing.
Art is gorgeous and music was pretty good too, I hardly complain about bgm's
they usually fit the mood in some way and Shuuen was no expection.
Honestly this game attempts to put more effort into establishing its plot and cast than
a certain other moist depressing otome game from otomate I once played did.😅
This was interesting to say the least but the type of game is not for everyone
and there were parts where I zoned out, especially when Scien technobabbles.
Kimiyuki had comedy going for it but Shuuen not so much again not to say there wasn't
any funny moments cuz there were, it all was so depressing? this game also doesn't
seem to be very otome but that doesn't mean it doesn't deliver. This is one of those
games that prioritizes its scenario over romance which might make you feel wanting
or with strong feels at the end but it also for better or for worse still manage to deliver classic
otomate tropes my first route did not disappoint in that regard! The names in this game
can be kind of weird though there are some normal ones (Lukas/Mathis/Ceres)
but then there's Yves(Eve), Capucine(Cappuccino), Dahut(Daath) or Camyu(Camille).
Needless to say I just write them down as I spelled it and for some it became meme(Cappuccino).😂
Then there's Ankou i'm pretty sure they meant Ankh, well its made for japanese folks
and they're gonna spell it in engrish how they want but to me it makes perfect sense.

Now this may sound a bit ranty... so you're warned but I try to be honest here:
This is really one of those story driven otome games that one must see through to the end
or better put do all routes to get the most of it. By default a lot of things makes Shuuen worse
than Piofiore or other games because you could avoid bad ends if you wanted, here they're forced
on you for the sake of the overall plot which might be good if you care about it scenario wise.
Well at that point i'd honestly would want to see something happier for once.
Anyway if you want happy ends right off the bat or  fluff, its not that type of game
also as listed in my pro's and con's good endings are subjective but you may not find much
in the way of the usual happy ends in this game. There are best ends for all the guys
but they're kind of like an extra or better put a bandaid after the final route
i'm not even sure why they really locked them, there is no reason for it to be so.
I wouldn't be surprised if the despair would get to a person at some point.
I think Shuuen no Virche is great if you did enjoy stuff like black wolves saga or don't mind
going through the bad ends in piofiore as you play the game but even then
those games were nowhere like Shuuen is. If you can't stomach despair/blood
and such better pass. I think this otome game is written by a bunch of sadists!😅
I do not mind characters having to suffer for development but this is on a whole new level
of how bad can it get? well that bad! I hate how it has you think well this isn't so bad
only for it to literally have baited you with a little otome element its like they wrote
the Adolphe route first but then remembered hey what about those guys?! oh yea about that.
The only route I enjoyed by default was Mathis...... I think that says a lot! I do have problems
with the final route and  I wish I had known before hand it was gonna be 10 hours instead of
the usual 6 that it took the other routes. In it we spend so much time with characters
we already know trying to get some true end effect but I was honestly a drag for me
but on the positive side I liked Adolphe, Ankh and the underlying plot! there's really nothing wrong
with the cast or plot as its well written enough but yea... this game really hates it heroine
and I got so tired of it like for once I just want her to be happy but every odd is against her
do you blame me for saying OH MY GOD I AM SO DONE WITH THIS WHO HURT YOU?!
Like I don't even mind depressing stuff but this was on a whole other level...
but despite everything it still somehow manages to deliver as an otome game.
At the end of the day I might just have to accept this wasn't fully for me....
because it was so emotionally draining I was just left like this image below when I fullcomp'd
even with the extra endings relieving some of the initial despair.
If this all sounds right up your alley that's good but I think you'll either love or hate this game
you'd have to see it for yourself but I can't guarantee anything at any rate
Shuuen no Virche gets and 8/10 from me, its pretty good if you don't mind despair. >_>;
This is what PEAK FICTION does to you.

So my play order was like this:
Lukas > Mathis > Scien > Ives > Final act.
This game has an enforced play order the first 3 routes can be done in whatever
order you want but need to be done to unlock the fourth and final act.

Like with Kimiyuki I won't be posting too many CG's due to request of writers
to not spoil too much so again it'll be my favorites only. Anyway here I will give you
a double spoiler warning so that if you want to play the game then please read no further.
If you're interested, got money and know japanese I recommend to buy it.
AGAIN I recommend to stop reading here cuz the spoiler-free zone ends here
with the jump break and the rest is just spoiler babbles
or more like SCREAMING? cuz I definitely did albeit internally.

Kenka Bancho Otome ~Kanzen Muketsu no My Honey~- Review

 喧嘩番長乙女 ~完全無欠のマイハニー~
Game: [Kenka Bancho Otome]
Genre: Otome Visual Novel.
Developer: Red entertainment and published by Spike Chunsoft.
Platform: PS Vita.
Release date: 2017-07-27

The fandisk of Kenka Bancho Otome... well it must've done pretty well to warrant one!
Since the previous installment was a last minute digital purchase, this suffered the same fate.
I didn't really pay attention to prerelease info or the anime shorts.
Said anime just turned out to be an advertisement with mash ups from the original game.
When I looked at the official site I honestly found it rather lacklustre...
From what I did gather this FD contains side stories(summer themed) and after stories...
which was honestly all a fan needed to know, Whether this was word it or not... saa let's find out.
I expected them to be fun and/or sweet but alas most were not as it seemed.
Also they have the first anime ep in the game itself.... dunno if just a preview
for the bluray release but it seems like a waste of space.

Pro's
- Still the same old boys we all know and love.
 - Comedy.
- A fun and to the point side story on da beech.

Con's
- Long loading, slow text skip which is bothersome in side scenario.
- Rintarou's after story is downright terrible.
- The writer still uses the same template for everything maybe its his/her thing.

The game is divided into two sections, first of is the after stories set after the love ends
in the original game, nothing else to it really. Secondly there's a summer camp scenario
which is sort of an AU friend scenario. Characters are grouped together such as
 Totomaru&Konparu, Kirarin&Yuuta or Hikaru&Sakaguchi etc.
Your choices in that scenario determines who you're grouped with at the end of that dunno
the whole thing was maybe 4 hours at most, not including repeat play for other pair up.
The comedy is still golden and almost never a dull moment one could say its a pointless
scenario with nothing to gain but why would you have a problem with camaraderie? I don't.
I already started snickering less that 10 minutes in, compared to the last vn I played this is g r e a t
but I didn't have much fun doing everything in there for completion's sake
and you have to fight everyone once including minor chara for a trophy and it is here
I realized the loading time is sinfully slow... probably cuz Unity but it ain't rear pheles bad.

In short its an enjoyable FD to fans of the original but I thought the original wrapped most
stuff up nicely, I already said this but it must've done well enough for it to happen!
I guess if you hated the whole now that they know she's a girl and the guy trying to protect her
or stop her from fighting then it will be a partial miss cuz some of the after stories continue
that line of thinking but they do try to make them come to terms on it that Hinako can hold her own.
The summer camp scenario is like an AU friend route for everyone... so there's that too
and you already know I liked it for what it was no need to go into it.
All in all its not bad its just that some after stories are either a hit or a miss my favs were  Konparu
and Totomaru... the rest just followed with Rintarou dead last honestly even Houou was better.
The FD is decent but also a little short despite each story having some length
to it but still has that stupid template which in some was more noticeable than others.
When I look back only Totomaru and Konparu's after stories were really
enjoyable to me and the content they had is what I expect of fandisks.
I want to see the characters under relaxed circumstance not
drama about yakuza gangs or a brother yearning for attention. -_-
There's not much else left to say... without being more detailed is there?
8.2/10

Black Wolves Saga Weib und Schwarz - Review

Game: [Black Wolves Saga Bloody Nightmare and Last Hope.]
Genre: Otome Game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher: Otomate.
Platform: PC. PSP, PS Vita.
Release date: 2017-1-26

Vita port of BWS contains both games, they're relatively the same in terms of content.
This will be a general review and i'll try to cover both games
so don't expect synopsis or summaries since you should be able to read that elsewhere
I'll try to write more for others but eh I wasn't very motivated for some.
For the sake of all that is unholy I decided to start with BN because it was the first
to be released back then, may as well keep it consistent shall we? and well all I can say is that
I am glad I got this out of my backlog since I got it out of sheer curiosity.
TBH for BN all I remember is nazi cats and an angry wolf fighting each other
over a woman called Elvira they once liked but met an unfortunate end and the hatred
went on for a couple of years, how unlucky for Fiona to be the split image? \(⌒‿⌒)/
Sadly Fiona was engaged to Mejojo since she was little, he's way older than her too! what a pedo.
The main focus of BN is the cats... while LH focus on the wolves
so it obvious the others sorta get the shaft in the game they're not the focus of.

Unlike the previous game I played this game was better in its overall presentation?
BN had a powerful opening, LH was slower and more otome-ish either way
this game is like a rollercoaster it starts off great then slows down and before you know
shit went down because come on you knew it was gonna happen it just a matter of when.
Without spoiling that basically how the rest went down too... 😅
People weren't kidding when they said this game had an overall decent plot but uh
I had a hard time categorizing BN as an otome game untill I got to Julian, lol.

Pro's
- Interesting world and story.
- Most characters are interesting but some...
- Art.
- Bgm.

Con's
- Long common route, skip fest on 2nd+ play.
- Read skip was 2slow...
- The otome game bit may leave to be desired, felt more like straight-forward vn at times
and romance wasn't the focus I guess the twistedness was.
- If you don't like abuse stay away from Bloody Nightmare.
- Auger.

The OP is great, but oh boy that bias...

Well the bgm was stellar, A++voice acting and distinct art style, the narrative
at BN was quite brutal and shocking, most characters all seemed to be pretty twisted
but I can't help but be interested in them, sasuga rejet.
There's not much hope of romance with some of them? but I could already tell
this was not the main focus of the game, the intriguing story and dark fantasy theme was.
Heroine is ok considering her upbringing little did she know her peaceful life would turn
into hell after all of that, can't help but feel bad for her not being able to do much.
That said I liked how Fiona was in Mejojo's bad end at LH she was able to end him
since he was schizo and she didn't want to pretend to be someone she is not.
whoops did I just spoil something.. oh I guess I did glad it wasn't full context.
Moving on the story seems to ride on past events and there were a lot of flashbacks
which made for a very long common route, BN took me like 3/4 days to get through
also don't get me started on the switching of POV at times it felt like a regular VN but it seemed
LH had more unique content for each chara except the twins borrowing from each other.

I guess Zara was my fav next to Julian but he felt out of place.

No annoying system to rage about this time unlike the last otomege I played
its just the same old VN stuff, BWS may seem long the first time and yes it is long
but sadly the BWS games are mostly common route so on 2nd+ play it'll just fly by
with a few pit stops here and there, just pay attention during your first play...
the political intrigue and zodivia bits were pretty interesting and so was
Mejojo,Auger's, Rath's and Arles past but I thought it was paced badly at times.
I think the common was way too long, you know I can stand common routes like in KgK
with a decent route after it but BWS was literally 90% common 10% individual...
and it wasn't that romance oriented and at times I had a hard time questioning
why Fiona fell for certain characters coughMejojo&Augercough.
Most of the torture scenes in BN were on automode and couldn't help but laugh...
at how crazy they were, yeah its shocking but it didn't faze me much.

TL;DR Fans of dark fantasy & twisted characters do not want to miss out on this
even if the otome part of the game may leave to be desired, some routes or end
may just be too much and I had a hard time to categorize this as full otome but
I think its still worth it if one wants something different from the usual stuff.
Whatever floats yer boat I suppose...
I'm actually glad I finished it so fast because I couldn't care about half of the dudes because some
were completely unlikeable and when they did become bearable hint Guillan it was too late for me to care.

Meiji Tokyo Renka Full Moon Review

明治東亰恋伽
Game: [Meiji Tokyo Renka Full Moon].
Genre: Otome game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher: Hunex/Broccoli/5pb(mages).
Platform: PSP,PS Vita.
Official Site: http://meikoi-vita.com/
VNDB: https://vndb.org/v12159
 Release date: 2016-8-25

I bought this otomege a while ago in my august order(Moujuutachi, Oumagatoki and Meikoi)
but delayed playing it since I figured its pretty much a charage and it
would be better to play when I have nothing better to do.
My reasons for buying Meikoi is because I am a sucker for the setting of being swept away
to a different time period in which Meikoi is similar to harukanaru toki no naka de and sangoku rensenki.
2nd reason would be the characters because I already heard that they're all 👌👌👌.
For the vita port they added a guy named Iwasake Tousuke who is original from the movie adaptations.

My playorder:
Fujita> Ougai > Shunsou > Otojirou > Kyouka > Yakumo > Tousuke > Charlie.
I don't really recommend starting with Fujita though, Ougai is a better place to start.
Just remember to do Fujita before Yakumo since Yakumo's route spoils the whole ghost girl subplot the two share.
You have no choice but to do Charlie last since he's the true route of this game.

Pro's
Characters.
- Art, its great but it does vary.
- Dummy head mic.
- Decent length as in not to short or too long.
- Comedy.

Con's
- Heroine, average at best.
- Background art leaves much to be desired.
- Copy Pasta.

Overall Meikoi has a decent length to it, first play will be the longest
I clocked out at 7-8 hours, pretty sure the prologue was atleast 1 to 2 hours.
Routes itself are about 5-6 hours becoming slightly shorter when going for the secondary route.
What I mean by that is characters are paired up together:
Fujita and Koizumi. Ougai and Shunsou. Otojirou and Kyouka.
Charlie is pretty much the truth route and Tousuke is an addition to the vita port.
The characters are all likeable, they are not that accurate representations
of their historical counterparts BUT they all have quirks to make them so likeable.
Fujita being the most normal, Ougai and Yakumo being the weirdest.
The comedy was also pure gold, so many scenes that made me laugh!
A lot of otomege forget about it or make it forgettable.
The bad ends are sad but they're also realistic... now for the bad part:
Characters that share route, their bad end is the same except the goodbye scene
the after credit scene for that or any pair up is the same... ah unavoidable copy pasta.
There was no affection meter but the text skip was super fast making
the other endings easy to get despite there being a lot of choices.

I do not think Meikoi is a bad otomege, even if it has its fair share of issues it is enjoyable
despite the protagonist not having much to her everything else adds to that.
The overall story isn't that interesting since its a charage which means first and foremost that its
focused on the characters though some of the subplots are darker than others but still not that dark.
Did I enjoy this otomege? hell yes! do I recommend it despite its many flaws? yes!
I could even recommend it to those still learning japanese and have a decent grasp of the language.
8/10

If you have yet to play the psp version the vita version is a good start but if you already played it
but I do not think 6000 yen is worth it just for one more route unless you are a die hard meikoi fan.
Meikoi is not terrible in what it tries to do and passes the otomege part of the game with flying colors.
For those that like the genre of being swept away to a different time period and romance historical bishies
Meikoi shouldn't disappoint you but its probably better to play it on the side
because when you think too hard about somethings you'll most likely shake your head.

Oumagatoki ~Kakuriyo no Enishi~ - Review

 逢魔が刻 ~かくりよの縁~
Game: Oumagatoki ~Kakuriyo no Snoozefest~.
Genre: Otome game Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher: Extend.
Platform: PS Vita.
Release date: 2016-08-25.

Otome game from a new developer, I was skeptic but tried it out anyway.

For playorder I used one an amazonJP reviewer recommended
and I recommend you to do the same, as Tokiwa's route is spoilerific and
doing him first would ruin the enjoyment in the long run.

Playorder:
Souta > Yoimiya > Hayate > Tsukishiro > Tokiwa > True end

Oh and I love the OP movie, Hosoyan singing is beautiful, I can't bring me to skip it ever.

Pro's
 - Interesting setting and characters.
- Insanely pretty art.
- Charming BGM.

Con's
- Heroine.
- pacing.
- Can get boring at times/TL;DR etc.
- Not every route is worth sitting through.

The first play is by far the longest due to common route also there are many choices.
Give or take 10 hours? 2nd+ play its cut down to about 6-7.
It's great they took their time introducing everyone and the setting
but sadly the way they executed it made it so boring and only dragged it out
which reminds me of older games for example those of Quinrose.
I don't have a problem with long games in fact i'd take them over the short ones
but I can't help but critize the execution in this game because some parts were just boring to sit through especially the common stuff, it contributed nothing to the characters at all
all it was was some ghostbusting beavers or wtf those things were, oh well it could've been worse.

The heroine is very average though and I had trouble understanding her at times.
Sadly the guys don't say her default name, disappointing after all the other
otome games I've recently played which had this feature.
Since it was so long they atleast knew each other longer I guess but pacing is another matter
and well if the romance was any good honestly depended on the route.
The system? you can't save when a choice is present so have to do it before or after.
Also the controls are different, used to ''camp menus''? this doesn't have it.
Press square and hold left dpad to save, right dpad to load and down dpad to skip.
Lotus system is okay I guess don't have problem with it also nice of them to use the vita touch screen for it.
Anyway I am thankful for the skip to the next choice feature especially so
because it such a really long game so it definitely needed that and another good point it doesn't skip
passed unread text! I wish more games had this feature and rejet sure could learn from extend for this alone.
One minus point is the screen dimming during auto mode, ah otomate how you've spoiled me!

Overall despite some of the boring parts of the story and pacing issues atleast two of the romanceable
characters were worth pursuing for me, those being Hayate and Tokiwa, the rest just weren't worth it.
All of them were combat capable but for the most part the writing didn't execute it well...
Good thing is no matter the character the confession scenes were oh so sweet.
In the end this game kind of reminds me of Quinrose games
that suffered from stretched out scenes, TL;DR and way too many romanceable guys, lol.
Did I like this game? sure but its not without flaws, I'm just glad atleast two routes were worth doing.
Sadly I couldn't even begin to care about Souta and Yoimiya, it felt like they
just gave us them as options when they had no idea how to properly fit them into the story.
Atleast Tsukishiro made sense but then again his voice plus dull route just put me to sleep. -_-
Hayate was an adorable cinnamon roll and Tokiwa? he's just a tsundere dork, these
two along with the pretty art made Oumagatoki worth a purchase to me but
I am going to think twice before purchasing an Extend game again this was just average at best.
5.5/10

Kenka Banchou Otome - Review

 喧嘩番長乙女
Game: [Kenka Bancho Otome]
Genre: Otome Visual Novel.
Developer/Publisher: Red entertainment and published by Spike Chunsoft.
Platform: PS Vita.
Official Site: http://www.kenkabancho-otome.com/
VNDB:  https://vndb.org/v17750
Release date: 2016-05-19

Oh an otome game version of the Kenka Bancho games, but why?
I had no intention of getting this but since I noticed alot of people seem to be pretty hype
about this game I decided to get the digital version day 1 which came with a nice theme.

Since the story is done by Red Entertainment I had faith that it will be good(and it was).
Which is part of the reason I wanted to give it try.
Anyway I do think the premise is interesting but I am not a fan of school settings & crossdressing.
I like bad boys even tho I am not fond of the theme of this game, though it could be amusing.
Now I am having flashbacks of I DOLL U...  due to the whole replace your brother thing
but atleast the Kenka Bancho guys aren't that weird.
The production values seem to be pretty high, the heroine and the guys got different sprites too
this and that red entertainment handled the story helped me decide to give it a shot.

TL;DR:

Pro's
-Heroine is awesome.
- Characters are fun.
- Comedy, some scenes are just pure gold I'm not kidding.
- System is easy to handle.
- Art, looks kind of anime-ish but its not bad.
- Catchy music.
- Individual route is self-contained.

Con's
- Even though the plot is unique every route it follows a template that one is sure to notice.
^This can make things predictable as to when something good or bad is going to happen...
- Route is on the short side, 4/5 hours at most.
- On 2nd+ play why can't we skip fights during the common route? its annoying to sit through all that again.

The minigame isn't that annoying but it gets a bit to easy once you get the hang of it.
Apparently it doesn't matter what sentences you use during the staring phase
you can talk gibberish and at most the opponent will me like U Wot m8?
but as long as you beat him its fine whatever you choose don't worry if you wanna be funny be funny!
As that does not affect the endings in any way(truth be told I liked messing with those words).
If you use the right words you get an advantage but the minigame is fairly easy so it shouldn't matter.
Losing means game over but you can retry right away except in a certain fight in Kira route, anyway
like I said before the minigame is easy but does get a bit harder later on but not that hard.

No way to check affection but its easy to know which choices to pick, especially with q.save/load.
My advice? keep Cool/Maiden guages around neutral, make a save at the start of july so
you can adjust the guage to get the love/friend endings easily and so you have enough for the endings.
I didn't even need to use a guide for this game and I got a love end on my first play...
Yes that is how easy this otome game is.

Anyway despite me being meh about this otomege at first, this game is alot better than I expected!

My play order:
Konparu > Totomaru > Yuuta > Rintarou > Houou.
The routes itself are very self-contained, so the order shouldn't matter I recommend either
Totomaru or Konparu's route to be done first. The pacing is okay though after two routes
I could clearly see a template if sth good or bad is gonna happen but honestly I don't care.

I recommend starting with either Totomaru or Konparu on your first play, save
Rintarou and Houou's route for later anyway like I said it shouldn't matter that much
other than that it is important to do Houou last since his route reveals important plot details about the heroine.

More ramblings/spoilers after the jump.

I Doll U Review

 Amiami limited edition

Game: I Doll U
Developer: Otomate.
Platform: PS Vita.
Genre: Otome Game, Visual Novel, Music, idols.
Official Site: http://www.otomate.jp/i_doll_u/
Release date: 16-07-2015.
  This post contains slight spoilers

I need you...
I Doll U is an otome game about a girl named Aika whom's brother
was assigned to a couple of idols but he ditched them and he sended a letter
to Aika to please take his place and now Aika has to pretend to be a boy...
and lead five miserable fruitcakes to stardom.
The heroine while cute she looks like an elementary school girl.
So if you don't like a loli-heroine best stay away from this one.
There's also a lack of choices and I felt that at certain times the interaction with the guys was forced.
Or to put it differently this game was trying too hard.

 Pro's
- It seems interesting but.. its pretty much a moege and not much else.
- Characters are fun, especially Seiya, though Tsubasa and Itsuki might need an acquired taste.
- Art and Music.

Con's
- Weak story, not many choices and interaction feels forced at times..
- Minigame is pretty bad.
- Loli heroine, this can make or break this game for you,
- In the end some things just don't make any sense.

TL;DR I give this Otomege a 6.5 out of 10.
One thing that this game kindly reminded me of was that:
AIDORUS ARE SUFFERING
Well I know for certain that I won't be bothering with Idol themed otome games again
atleast for a little while, sigh what were my expectations anyway? lol.
It was decent at best because it was rather fun but you shouldn't expect much out of the story.
TBH if you absolutely love the otome idol genre this might be worth a pick but
if you expect a decent story you best look elsewhere, I would even recommend you utapri repeat over this.
